AZDOME JYX05 3-Lead ACC Hardwire Kit Instruction Manual

Model: JYX05

Introduction

The AZDOME JYX05 3-Lead ACC Hardwire Kit is a power management device designed to provide continuous power to your dash camera directly from your vehicle's fuse box. This enables features such as 24-hour parking monitoring, even when the vehicle's engine is off. It intelligently converts 12V-24V vehicle power to a stable 5V/2.5A output, compatible with dash cameras utilizing a Type-C USB power connector.

This kit includes essential safety features like low voltage protection to prevent vehicle battery drain, reverse connection protection, short circuit protection, overload protection, and overtemperature protection.

Safety Information

  • Always refer to your vehicle's owner's manual before modifying the electrical system.
  • Avoid connecting to fuse slots that control critical safety features such as airbags, stability control programs, or engine management systems. Safe options often include fuses for the radio, sunroof, or interior lights.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to prevent electrical shorts or malfunctions.
  • Do not exceed the specified output current (5V/2.5A Max) to avoid damage to the hardwire kit or connected device.
  • The hardwire kit is designed to operate within a working temperature range of -20℃ to 90℃.

Product Components

The AZDOME JYX05 Hardwire Kit includes the following components:

  • AZDOME JYX05 3-Lead Hardwire Kit (with integrated voltage protection module and Type-C USB output)
  • Various types of Add-A-Fuse taps (ACZ/Micro2, ACS/Mini, ACN/LP-Mini, ACU/ATO) to ensure compatibility with different vehicle fuse boxes.
  • Fuse puller tool

Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the hardwire kit's functionality and your vehicle's electrical system. If you are unsure about any steps, consult a professional.

Wiring Connections

The hardwire kit features three wires that must be connected to your vehicle's fuse box:

  • RED wire (BAT+): Connect to a constant fuse that provides power even when the vehicle is off. This is essential for parking mode functionality.
  • YELLOW wire (ACC): Connect to an ACC (Accessory) fuse that receives power only when the vehicle's ignition is on. This allows the dash cam to automatically power on and off with the vehicle.
  • BLACK wire (GND): Connect to a metal bolt or screw on the vehicle's chassis to establish a secure ground connection.

Selecting Fuse Taps

The kit includes four common types of Add-A-Fuse taps (ACZ/Micro2, ACS/Mini, ACN/LP-Mini, ACU/ATO). You will need to identify the correct fuse type for your vehicle by checking your car's fuse box. Two fuse taps are needed per vehicle (one for BAT+ and one for ACC).

Four types of dual-slot fuse holders: ACZ (Micro2), ACS (Mini), ACN (LP Mini), and ACU (ATO).

Low Voltage Protection Settings

The hardwire kit features an adjustable low voltage cut-off to protect your vehicle's battery from draining completely. You can select from four voltage options using the integrated switches:

  • For 12V Battery Systems: 11.8V, 12.0V, 12.2V, 12.4V
  • For 24V Battery Systems: 23.6V, 24.0V, 24.4V, 24.8V

The kit will automatically cut off power to the dash cam if the battery voltage drops below the selected value for more than 8 seconds, ensuring enough power remains to start your car.

Recommendation: It is recommended to start with a higher voltage setting (e.g., 12.2V for 12V systems or 24.4V for 24V systems) and test to find the optimal setting for your vehicle and driving habits. If multiple options are selected simultaneously, or no option is selected, the default cut-off is 11.8VDC for 12V batteries and 23.6VDC for 24V batteries.

Installation Steps Overview

  1. Locate your vehicle's fuse box (refer to your vehicle's manual).
  2. Using a circuit tester, identify a constant power fuse slot (BAT+) and an accessory power fuse slot (ACC).
  3. Select the correct type of Add-A-Fuse tap for your vehicle's fuses.
  4. Crimp the red wire (BAT+) and yellow wire (ACC) of the hardwire kit onto separate Add-A-Fuse taps.
  5. Insert the Add-A-Fuse taps into the identified fuse slots.
  6. Connect the black wire (GND) to a suitable metal ground point on the vehicle chassis.
  7. Route the Type-C USB cable to your dash camera and connect it.
  8. Test the dash camera to ensure it powers on and off correctly with the ignition, and that parking mode functions as expected.
Six steps for easy installation: locate fuse box, find correct fuse slots, identify fuse type, connect wires, connect ground, test dashcam.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the AZDOME JYX05 Hardwire Kit operates automatically with your vehicle and dash camera.

Automatic Power On/Off

When the vehicle's ignition is turned on, the hardwire kit will supply power to the dash camera, causing it to power on and begin recording (if configured to do so). When the ignition is turned off, the hardwire kit will detect the change and, if connected correctly, allow the dash camera to transition into its parking mode (if supported by the dash cam).

Parking Mode Functionality

For 24-hour parking monitoring, ensure your dash camera has a parking mode feature that detects ACC signals. After correct hardwire kit installation, access your dash camera's menu, navigate to the "Park" settings, and enable parking monitoring. Depending on your dash cam model (e.g., AZDOME M550), it may automatically enter Time-Lapse Parking Mode, Motion Detection Parking Mode, or Collision Detection Parking Mode when the vehicle is turned off.

The hardwire kit ensures continuous power supply for these modes while actively monitoring battery voltage to prevent excessive discharge.

Maintenance

The AZDOME JYX05 Hardwire Kit is designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the wiring connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or looseness. Ensure the hardwire kit module is securely mounted and not exposed to excessive heat or moisture. No user-serviceable parts are inside the module.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Dash cam does not power on.Incorrect wiring, loose connection, blown fuse, incompatible dash cam.Verify all three wires (BAT+, ACC, GND) are correctly connected. Check vehicle fuses and the fuses within the Add-A-Fuse taps. Ensure your dash cam uses a Type-C USB port and requires 5V/2.5A.
Parking mode does not activate.ACC wire not connected to a switched fuse, parking mode not enabled in dash cam settings, dash cam does not support ACC detection.Ensure the yellow ACC wire is connected to a fuse that powers off with the ignition. Enable parking mode in your dash cam's settings. Confirm your dash cam model supports parking mode via ACC detection.
Vehicle battery drains quickly.Low voltage protection set too low, dash cam power consumption too high, vehicle battery health.Adjust the low voltage protection setting to a higher value (e.g., 12.2V or 24.4V). Ensure your dash cam's parking mode settings are optimized (e.g., time-lapse instead of continuous recording). Have your vehicle's battery tested.
Incompatible with certain Ford trucks/vehicles.Specific vehicle electrical system design. This hardwire kit is known to be incompatible with some Ford F150 (2011, 2021), F350, Edge (2011), Explorer (2013), Expedition (2013), and Ranger (2021) models. No workaround is available for these specific models.
