Setup

1. Battery Installation

The system requires two (2) 'AAA' batteries for the remote control and four (4) 'AA' batteries for the receiver. Batteries are not included.

  • Remote Control: Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote and insert two 'AAA' batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  • Receiver Unit: Slide open the battery cover on the receiver unit. Insert four 'AA' batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

2. Connecting the Receiver to the Gas Valve

The receiver connects to any standard millivolt gas valve system. Ensure your fireplace is turned off and cooled before proceeding.

  • Locate the millivolt gas valve in your fireplace. Identify the 'TH' and 'TH/TP' terminals.
  • Connect the two wires from the receiver unit to the 'TH' and 'TH/TP' terminals of the millivolt valve. The connection is non-polarized, so the order of wires does not matter.

3. Pairing (Learning) the Remote and Receiver

The remote and receiver are pre-programmed, but if re-pairing is needed:

  • Ensure both the remote and receiver have fresh batteries installed.
  • On the receiver unit, locate the small 'LEARN' button (often a pinhole).
  • Using a paper clip or similar pointed object, gently press and hold the 'LEARN' button on the receiver until you hear a beep.
  • Immediately press any button on the remote control. The receiver will emit a series of beeps to confirm successful pairing.

4. Mounting the Receiver

The receiver can be placed near the fireplace or mounted to a wall using the included wall plate and hardware.

  • Choose a location where the receiver is protected from excessive heat and moisture, and within range of the remote control (up to 30 feet).
  • If wall-mounting, use the wall plate as a template to mark screw holes. Drill pilot holes if necessary, insert anchors, and secure the wall plate with screws.
  • Slide the receiver onto the mounted wall plate.
