Connect the USB-A end to a USB port on your computer (Windows PC, Apple Mac), smart device, or a compatible USB power adapter. The iFi uno receives both power and audio data through this single USB-C connection.
  2. Headphone Output: For headphone listening, plug your headphones into the 3.5mm S-Balanced headphone output located on the front of the unit.
  3. RCA Analog Output: To connect to an external amplifier or powered speakers, use RCA cables (not included) to connect the RCA analog outputs on the rear of the iFi uno to the corresponding inputs on your audio system.

4.2 Driver Installation (Windows Only)

For Windows users, it may be necessary to install specific drivers for optimal performance. Visit the official iFi audio website and navigate to the support section for the uno model to download the latest drivers. macOS and Linux systems typically do not require additional drivers.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Volume Control

The large knob on the front panel controls the output volume for both the headphone and RCA outputs. Rotate clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease. Adjust to a comfortable listening level.

5.2 EQ Modes

Press the EQ button on the front panel to cycle through three distinct audio modes:

  • Music Mode: Optimized for general music listening, providing a balanced sound profile.
  • Movie Mode: Enhances dialogue clarity and soundstage for cinematic experiences.
  • Game Mode: Designed to emphasize spatial audio cues for gaming.

The LED indicator above the EQ button will change color to indicate the active mode. Note that EQ modes primarily affect the headphone output.

5.3 Power Match

The Power Match button adjusts the gain of the headphone amplifier. Press this button to toggle between low and high gain settings. Use the low gain setting for sensitive headphones or in-ear monitors (IEMs) to prevent excessive volume and noise. Use the high gain setting for less sensitive or high-impedance headphones that require more power.

5.4 LED Indicators

The iFi logo LED on the top panel indicates the audio format being played:

  • Green: PCM 44.1/48/88.2/96kHz
  • Yellow: PCM 176.4/192/352.8/384kHz
  • Cyan: DSD 64/128
  • Blue: DSD 256
  • Magenta: MQA

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your iFi uno, follow these guidelines:

  • Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.
  • Ensure proper ventilation and do not block any openings.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Sound:
    • Verify that the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the iFi uno and the source device.
    • Check the volume level on both the iFi uno and your source device.
    • Ensure the correct audio output device is selected in your computer's sound settings.
    • If using RCA outputs, confirm the correct input is selected on your amplifier or powered speakers.
  • Distorted Sound or Noise:
    • Reduce the volume level.
    • If using sensitive headphones, ensure Power Match is set to low gain.
    • Try a different USB port or cable.
    • If experiencing noise with EQ modes (especially Game mode), try disabling the EQ or switching to Music mode. Some users report increased noise in Game mode with sensitive headphones.
  • Intermittent Audio:
    • Check all cable connections for looseness.
    • Ensure the USB power source is stable.
    • Update drivers if on Windows.
  • Device Not Recognized by Computer:
    • Try connecting to a different USB port.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Install or update the necessary drivers (Windows).
