- Removal: The battery pack is located on the indoor component and can be easily removed for charging without detaching the entire unit from the door.
Cleaning
To ensure optimal performance, periodically clean the camera lens and the exterior of the device. Use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive moisture.
Software Updates
Your Ring Peephole Cam receives automatic software security updates to ensure optimal performance and security. These updates are guaranteed for at least four years after the device is last available for purchase as a new unit. For specific information regarding your device's software updates, refer to the Software Security Updates section within the Ring Control Center in the Ring app.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Ring Peephole Cam, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Notifications or Delayed Alerts:
- Check your Wi-Fi connection strength in the Ring app. A weak signal can cause delays. Consider a Wi-Fi extender if your router is far from the door.
- Ensure app notifications are enabled on your smartphone/tablet settings.
- Verify motion detection settings and zones are configured correctly in the Ring app.
- Poor Video Quality or Night Vision:
- Clean the camera lens to remove any smudges or dirt.
- Ensure adequate lighting for night vision, if applicable.
- Short Battery Life:
- Frequent motion events and Live View usage can drain the battery faster. Adjust motion sensitivity if necessary.
- Ensure the battery is fully charged. Consider purchasing an additional battery pack for uninterrupted use.
- Doorbell Chime Not Heard Indoors:
- The integrated doorbell chime is primarily for outdoor visitors. For indoor alerts, a separate Ring Chime accessory is recommended and sold separately.
- Ensure your mobile device volume is up and notifications are enabled for the Ring app.
- Mobile Phone Not Ringing During Live View:
- If you are actively using Live View on your mobile phone, incoming calls may not ring. This is a known behavior.
