Setup
1. Powering On and Battery Installation
The FR42-BT scanner comes with a pre-installed, rechargeable Lithium Ion battery. Ensure the battery is fully charged before first use. The battery is designed to be easily replaceable if needed.
2. Bluetooth Connection
- Turn on the scanner.
- Activate Bluetooth on your host device (computer, tablet, etc.).
- Search for available Bluetooth devices. The scanner should appear as "Newland FR42-BT" or similar.
- Select the scanner to pair. A successful connection will be indicated by an audible beep and/or LED indicator on the scanner.
- For devices without built-in Bluetooth, use the provided Bluetooth 5.0 dongle for a stable connection.
Operating Instructions
1. Hands-Free Scanning
Place the FR42-BT scanner on a flat surface. Its omnidirectional scanning platform allows for hands-free operation. Simply present the barcode to the large scanning window. The scanner will automatically detect and decode the barcode.
2. Barcode Decoding
The scanner is equipped with advanced barcode detection technology capable of quickly and accurately scanning both 1D and 2D barcodes. This includes:
- Standard Barcodes: UPC/EAN, Code 39, Code 128, QR Code, Data Matrix, Maxicode, Aztec code.
- Challenging Barcodes: Fuzzy, damaged, deformed, and reflective barcodes.
- Digital Barcodes: Barcodes displayed on mobile device screens.
Upon successful decoding, the scanner will provide both audible (beep) and visible (LED indicator) feedback.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to clean the exterior of the scanner, especially the scanning window. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
- Battery Care: While the battery is replaceable, proper charging practices will extend its lifespan. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
