Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your PENTAX KF APS-C Digital SLR Camera. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the camera and retain it for future reference. Setup
1. Unboxing and Included Items
Verify that all items are present in the package:
- PENTAX KF Camera Body
- USB cable
- Lithium-ion Battery
- Battery charger
- Strap
- Software (CD ROM)
- AC plug
- USB power adapter
- Eyecup
- Hotshoe cover
- Body mount cover
2. Battery Installation and Charging
- Open the battery compartment cover located at the bottom of the camera.
- Insert the Lithium-ion Battery, ensuring correct orientation as indicated by the markings.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
- To charge the battery, connect the battery charger to a power outlet using the AC plug and insert the battery into the charger. The charging indicator will show the charging status.
3. Memory Card Installation
- Locate the memory card slot cover on the side of the camera.
- Open the cover.
- Insert an SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory card into the slot with the label facing the correct direction until it clicks into place.
- Close the memory card slot cover.

4. Lens Attachment
The PENTAX KF uses a Pentax KAF mount. To attach a lens:
- Remove the body mount cover from the camera and the rear cap from the lens.
- Align the red mounting index on the lens with the red mounting index on the camera body.
- Insert the lens into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place.
Operating the Camera
1. Power On/Off
Rotate the power switch, typically located near the shutter button, to the ON position to power on the camera. Rotate it to OFF to power off.
2. Basic Controls and Display
Familiarize yourself with the camera's controls and the vari-angle LCD monitor.

Vari-Angle LCD Monitor
The high-definition vari-angle LCD monitor can be rotated and tilted, allowing for flexible shooting angles, including high-angle, low-angle, and self-portraits. This feature is particularly useful for composing images in challenging positions.

Night Vision Red Light LCD Function
For nightscape and astrophotography, the Night Vision Red Light LCD function minimizes eye strain and fatigue by displaying information in red tones.
3. Shooting Modes
The mode dial on the top of the camera allows you to select various shooting modes:
- AUTO: Fully automatic mode for general photography.
- SCN (Scene Modes): Pre-set modes optimized for specific scenes (e.g., Portrait, Landscape).
- P (Program AE): The camera sets aperture and shutter speed automatically, but you can shift the combination.
- Av (Aperture-Priority AE): You set the aperture, and the camera sets the shutter speed.
- Tv (Shutter-Priority AE): You set the shutter speed, and the camera sets the aperture.
- M (Manual): You set both aperture and shutter speed.
- Other specialized modes may be available.

4. Focusing
The camera supports both autofocus (AF) and manual focus (MF).
- Autofocus: The camera uses Contrast Detection Autofocus. Half-press the shutter button to activate autofocus.
- Manual Focus: Switch the AF/MF lever on the camera body or lens to MF and adjust the focus ring on the lens manually.
5. Image Stabilization (SR)
The PENTAX KF features an in-body Shake Reduction (SR) mechanism with a compensation effect of 4.5 shutter steps. This system works with all PENTAX interchangeable lenses to reduce blur caused by camera shake.

6. Connectivity (Wi-Fi)
The camera supports Wi-Fi connectivity for remote control and image transfer. Use the dedicated mobile application to connect your smartphone or tablet to the camera.

7. Astrotracer Function
When used with the optional O-GPS2 GPS unit, the Astrotracer function enables automatic tracking of celestial bodies, simplifying astrophotography without the need for an equatorial device.

Maintenance
1. Dustproof and Weather-Resistant Design
The PENTAX KF features a robust construction designed to be dustproof and weather-resistant, making it suitable for outdoor use in various conditions. It also offers cold-proof performance down to -10°C (14°F).

2. Cleaning and Storage
