1. Product Overview

2. Initial Setup

Your Miele CM 6160 coffee machine comes pre-assembled. Follow these steps for initial setup:

1. Unboxing and Preparation: Remove all protective plastic and any paperwork from inside the water reservoir. Wash the water reservoir with a mild dish soap before use.
2. Install Drip Tray: Place the drip tray cover in its designated position.
3. Fill Water Reservoir: Fill the water reservoir with cold tap water up to the maximum line and place it back into the machine. The water tank capacity is 1.8 liters.
4. Fill Bean Container: Fill the bean container with your preferred whole coffee beans. The bean container capacity is 10.6 ounces.
5. Power On and Initial Menu Setup: Plug in your machine. The display will guide you through the initial menu setup. Select your preferred language and location using the navigation arrows and confirm with "OK".

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Making Coffee Beverages

The machine offers a variety of coffee specialties including Espresso, Coffee, Cappuccino, Milk Froth, Hot Water, and Tea. You can customize settings for each beverage:

• Connecting the Milk Pipework: Connect the milk pipework to the central spout of the machine and ensure the other end is securely connected to your milk flask.
• Milk-based Drinks: Select your desired milk-based beverage from the menu.

3.3 Using Ground Coffee

You can also make coffee using pre-ground coffee in the coffee chute located on the top of the machine. This is useful if you want to brew decaf coffee or a different type of coffee even if the bean container is filled with regular coffee beans. Place a maximum of 0.4 oz (12 g) of ground coffee in the chute.

3.4 Using the Cup Warmer

For optimal flavor, it is best to dispense your beverage into a warm cup. To turn on the optional cup warmer:

1. Navigate to the main menu.
2. Scroll down and select "Settings".
3. Scroll down and select "Cup heating".
4. Select "On" and confirm with "OK". The machine will alert you that this function uses more energy.

3.5 Creating User Profiles

Miele coffee machines are designed to adapt to your personal tastes. With custom profiles, you can fine-tune every detail to create a cup that's made just for you. To create a profile:

1. Navigate to the main menu and select "Profiles".
2. Select "Create profile".
3. Enter a name for your profile using the on-screen keyboard and confirm.
4. Adjust the parameters (coffee strength, brew temperature, pre-brewing, portion size) for each beverage to your liking.
5. Once your drink is finished and the portion size is locked in, hit "OK" to save those settings to your profile.

3.6 Expert Mode

Expert mode allows you to customize the amount dispensed for a beverage without changing your previously dialed-in presets. These adjustments are only used for the drink being made at that time and will not be saved.

1. Navigate to the main menu and select "Settings".
2. Scroll and select "Expert Mode".
3. Turn the setting to "On" and confirm with "OK".
4. Navigate back to the main menu and make your beverage selection. As the coffee is being dispensed, you can use the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the amount.
