3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation and Removal
- To Install: Align the ribs on the battery pack with the grooves in the tool's battery port. Slide the battery pack into the tool until it latches securely in place.
- To Remove: Depress the latch button on the battery pack and slide the battery out of the tool.
Ensure the battery is fully charged before use. Refer to your battery charger's instruction manual for charging procedures.
3.2 SDS-Plus Bit Installation
- Clean the shank of the SDS-Plus drill bit.
- Pull back the chuck collar on the front of the tool.
- Insert the SDS-Plus bit into the chuck until it clicks into place.
- Release the chuck collar. Pull on the bit to ensure it is securely locked. The bit should have a slight amount of play (in-and-out movement) when properly installed; this is normal for SDS-Plus systems.
Warning: Always ensure the tool is switched off and the battery pack is removed before installing or removing accessories.
3.3 Mode Selection
The rotary hammer features a mode selector switch to choose between two operating modes:
- Rotary Hammer Mode (Hammer and Drill Icon): For drilling into concrete, brick, and masonry. This mode combines rotation with a hammering action.
- Drill Mode (Drill Bit Icon): For drilling into wood, metal, and plastics without hammering action.
Rotate the mode selector switch to the desired setting. Ensure the switch is fully engaged in the chosen mode before operation.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 General Operation
- Ensure the correct bit is installed and the desired mode is selected.
- Hold the tool firmly with both hands, if possible, to maintain control.
- Position the bit on the workpiece.
- Depress the trigger to start the tool. The integrated LED worklight will illuminate the work area.
- Apply steady, firm pressure. Do not force the tool; allow the tool to do the work.
- Release the trigger to stop the tool.
4.2 Drilling into Masonry/Concrete (Rotary Hammer Mode)
- Use SDS-Plus masonry bits.
- Select Rotary Hammer mode.
- Start drilling at a low speed to create a pilot indentation, then increase speed and pressure.
- Periodically withdraw the bit from the hole to clear dust and debris, which helps prevent overheating and improves drilling efficiency.
4.3 Drilling into Wood/Metal (Drill Mode)
- Use appropriate drill bits for wood or metal.
- Select Drill mode.
- For metal, use a center punch to mark the drilling spot and apply cutting oil to prolong bit life.
- For wood, ensure the workpiece is clamped securely to prevent movement.
