SilverStone SST-PP14-EPS

Silverstone Technology PP14-EPS Dual EPS to 12VHPWR PCIe Gen5 Cable Instruction Manual

Model: SST-PP14-EPS

1. Introduction and Overview

The SilverStone PP14-EPS cable is designed to provide power to modern high-performance graphics cards using the 12+4 pin 12VHPWR connector. This cable allows users with compatible SilverStone 3rd generation modular power supplies to connect to NVIDIA RTX 40 series or similar graphics cards without needing a new power supply. It converts two 8-pin EPS/PCIe outputs from your power supply into a single 12+4 pin 12VHPWR connector for your GPU.

Key features include:

  • Enables SilverStone 3rd generation modular power supplies to support 12+4 pin 12VHPWR connector.
  • Connector housing made with 94V0 standard for safety.
  • 16AWG rated for 9.2 Amp per wire, capable of supporting up to 600W.
  • Compatible with HELA Series, Decathlon Series, ET500-MG, ET600-MG, ET700-MG, SX750 Platinum, and SX1000 Platinum PSUs.

2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing or using this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or damage to your equipment.

  • Power Disconnection: Always disconnect power from your computer system before installing or removing any components, including this cable.
  • Compatibility: Ensure your power supply is a compatible SilverStone 3rd generation modular PSU as listed in the specifications. Using this cable with incompatible power supplies may cause damage.
  • Secure Connections: Ensure all connectors are fully and securely seated. Loose connections can lead to overheating and potential damage to components.
  • Cable Management: Avoid excessive bending or kinking of the cable, especially near the connectors. This can damage internal wires and affect performance or safety.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate airflow within your computer case to prevent heat buildup, especially for high-power components.
  • Moisture: Do not expose the cable to moisture or liquids.

3. Package Contents

The package contains the following item:

  • 1 x SilverStone PP14-EPS Dual EPS to 12VHPWR PCIe Gen5 Cable

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install the PP14-EPS cable:

  1. Power Off System: Completely shut down your computer and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.
  2. Open Case: Open your computer case to access the power supply and graphics card.
  3. Locate PSU EPS/PCIe Ports: Identify two available 8-pin EPS/PCIe ports on your compatible SilverStone modular power supply. Refer to your PSU manual if unsure.
  4. Connect to PSU: Connect the two 8-pin EPS connectors of the PP14-EPS cable into the designated ports on your power supply. Ensure they click firmly into place.

  7. Cable Management: Route the cable neatly within your case, avoiding sharp bends or interference with fans and other components.
  8. Close Case and Power On: Close your computer case, reconnect the power cord, and power on your system.

Note: The cable is designed to be stiff to ensure proper power delivery. Ensure sufficient clearance for routing, especially in compact cases.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the PP14-EPS cable is correctly installed and your system is powered on, the graphics card will receive power through this cable. No specific operational steps are required for the cable itself. Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date for optimal performance.

  • Monitor your system for any unusual behavior, such as flickering screens or system instability, which could indicate a power issue.
  • Regularly check that the cable connections remain secure, especially if the computer is moved.

6. Maintenance

The PP14-EPS cable requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity and reliable performance:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the cable and connectors with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
  • Inspection: Occasionally inspect the cable for any signs of damage, such as frayed insulation, cuts, or bent pins on the connectors. If damage is found, discontinue use and replace the cable.
  • Avoid Stress: Do not pull on the cable to disconnect it; always grasp the connector housing. Avoid placing heavy objects on the cable or routing it in a way that causes excessive strain.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues after installing the PP14-EPS cable, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power to GPU / System Not Booting:
    • Ensure the computer's power cord is securely plugged into the wall outlet and the power supply.
    • Verify that both 8-pin EPS connectors are fully seated into the power supply.
    • Confirm the 12+4 pin 12VHPWR connector is fully and securely seated into the graphics card. A common issue is a partially inserted connector.
    • Check that your power supply is a compatible SilverStone 3rd generation modular PSU.
    • Test with the original GPU power cables (if applicable) to rule out the PP14-EPS cable as the source of the problem.
  • System Instability / Crashes During Load:
    • This could indicate insufficient power delivery. Double-check all connections for security.
    • Ensure your power supply has adequate wattage for your entire system, especially the graphics card.
    • Monitor GPU temperatures to ensure proper cooling.
  • Visual Artifacts / Display Issues:
    • While less likely to be cable-related, ensure the cable is not damaged and connections are secure.
    • Update your graphics card drivers.

If problems persist after following these steps, contact SilverStone customer support or consult a qualified technician.
