3.3. Configuration via Web Browser (For advanced settings or if WPS fails)

  1. Connect to Repeater's Network: Plug in the repeater. On your computer or mobile device, connect to the repeater's default Wi-Fi network (e.g., "Hyzom_Extender" or similar, usually found on a label on the device). No password is required initially.
  2. Access Web Interface: Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.254 or repeater.local) into the address bar. Refer to the device label or quick start guide for the exact address.
  3. Log In: Enter the default username and password (usually "admin" for both, or as specified on the device label).
  4. Select Mode: Choose either "Repeater Mode" or "AP Mode" based on your needs.
    • Repeater Mode: Extends your existing Wi-Fi network. Select your main Wi-Fi network from the list, enter its password, and configure the extended network's name (SSID) and password.
    • AP Mode: Transforms your wired network connection into a wireless access point. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the repeater's LAN port. Configure the new wireless network's name (SSID) and password.
  5. Apply Settings: Save the settings and wait for the repeater to restart.
  6. Reconnect: Reconnect your devices to the new extended or AP network.

4. Operation

Once configured, the Hyzom Wi-Fi Repeater operates automatically to provide extended wireless coverage.

4.1. LED Indicators

The LEDs on the front panel provide information about the device's status:

  • Power LED: Indicates if the device is powered on.
  • WPS LED: Blinks during WPS setup, solid when WPS connection is established.
  • Signal Strength LEDs: Indicate the strength of the signal received from your main router. More LEDs lit means a stronger signal. Aim for at least two or three LEDs for optimal performance.
  • LAN/WAN LED: Indicates activity on the Ethernet port.

  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates. Updating the firmware can improve performance, add new features, and fix bugs. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for any updates.
  • Restarting: If you experience network issues, try restarting the repeater by unplugging it from the power outlet for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter problems with your Hyzom Wi-Fi Repeater, refer to the following common issues and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No Power / Power LED OffDevice not plugged in, power outlet faulty.Ensure the repeater is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. Try a different outlet.
Cannot connect to the extended networkIncorrect password, repeater out of range of main router, incorrect configuration.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi password.
  • Relocate the repeater closer to your main router.
  • Perform a factory reset and reconfigure the repeater.
Slow internet speed or frequent disconnectionsPoor signal from main router, interference, too many connected devices.
  • Check the signal strength LEDs on the repeater; if low, move it closer to the router.
  • Avoid placing the repeater near large metal objects or other electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • Ensure your main router's firmware is up to date.
WPS setup failsRouter does not support WPS, WPS button not pressed within time limit, WPS disabled on router.
  • Try the web browser configuration method.
  • Ensure WPS is enabled on your main router.
  • Press the WPS buttons on both devices within the specified time frame.
Cannot access web management pageIncorrect IP address, device not connected to repeater's network.
  • Ensure your device is connected to the repeater's Wi-Fi network (or via Ethernet in AP mode).
  • Verify the correct IP address or domain name (e.g., 192.168.1.254) from the device label.
  • Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.

If problems persist, consider performing a factory reset on the repeater by pressing and holding the reset button (usually a small pinhole) for 5-10 seconds while the device is powered on. This will revert all settings to their default values.
