3. Setup and Installation
The MEILAN X5 tail light offers flexible mounting options to suit your bicycle setup.
3.1 Tail Light Installation
The tail light can be mounted either on the bike seat post or under the bike saddle.
- On the Bike Pipe (Seat Post): Use the provided mounting bracket and rubber band to secure the tail light firmly to your bicycle's seat post. Ensure it is positioned vertically for optimal visibility.
- Under the Bike Saddle: Utilize the specialized mounting bracket to attach the tail light directly to the rails under your bike saddle. This position often provides a higher mounting point for increased visibility.

3.2 Remote Control Installation
The wireless remote control should be installed on your bicycle's handlebar for easy access during riding. Use the provided rubber band to secure it in a convenient position that allows you to operate the buttons without compromising control of your bike.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off
To power on the MEILAN X5 tail light, press the ON/OFF button located on the side of the unit. Ensure the tail light is powered on before attempting to control it with the remote. To power off, press the ON/OFF button again.
4.2 Using the Wireless Remote Control
The remote control allows you to easily switch between different lighting modes:
- Mode Selection: Press the central button on the remote to cycle through the main lighting modes: Steady with full brightness, Fast Flash, and Flowing Light.
- Turn Signals: Use the left and right arrow buttons to activate the corresponding turn signals. The light will flash in the indicated direction.
- Ground Line: Press the "LASER" button to activate or deactivate the ground warning lines.
- A red LED light under the remote control button will illuminate to indicate the currently selected lighting mode of the taillight.
4.3 Automatic Brake Light Function
The tail light is equipped with a motion sensor. When braking is detected, the tail light will automatically increase its brightness and flash rapidly for approximately 13 seconds to provide a clear warning to traffic behind you.

4.4 Ambient Light Detection
The MEILAN X5 features an ambient light sensor that can automatically turn the light ON or OFF based on surrounding light conditions. This function can be turned off by pressing the power button of the X5 for 3 seconds when it is charging. The operation is complete when the middle group of LEDs flashes.
- Auto Turn OFF: The light will automatically turn off after 30 seconds of inactivity when used during the day.
- Auto Turn ON: The light will automatically turn on when passing through a dark environment.

4.5 Ground Warning Line
Activate the ground warning lines using the "LASER" button on the remote. These red laser lines project onto the ground behind your bicycle, creating a visible safety zone and alerting other road users to your presence and space.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Charging the Tail Light
The MEILAN X5 tail light is equipped with a 2000mAh rechargeable battery. To charge, connect the provided USB charging cable to the USB charging port on the tail light (refer to Figure 5). A full charge provides approximately 5-10 hours of operation in flashing mode. Ensure the port cover is securely closed after charging to maintain water resistance.
5.2 Remote Control Battery Replacement
The wireless remote control is powered by a CR2032 replaceable coin cell battery, which typically lasts for about 12 months. When the remote's indicator light becomes dim or unresponsive, replace the battery by carefully opening the battery compartment on the back of the remote.
5.3 Cleaning and Care
Wipe the tail light and remote control with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. While the tail light is IPX4 waterproof, avoid submerging it in water. Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use.
