6. Installation Instructions

This section outlines the steps for replacing your vehicle's headlight assemblies. Installation is generally plug-and-play, but some mechanical steps are required.

6.1. Tools Required

  • Socket wrench set (typically 10mm or 13mm for headlight bolts)
  • Flathead screwdriver (for clips, if applicable)
  • New HB5 high/low beam bulbs (if not reusing old ones)
  • New 3157A turn signal bulbs (if not reusing old ones)

6.2. Pre-Installation Checks

  • Ensure the vehicle is off and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the vehicle's battery.
  • Verify that the new headlight assemblies match your vehicle's specifications.

6.3. Removing Existing Headlight Assembly

  1. Locate the mounting bolts for the headlight assembly. These are typically accessible from the front or top of the engine bay.
  2. Carefully remove any clips or screws securing the grille or trim pieces that may obstruct access to the headlight bolts.
  3. Unscrew the headlight mounting bolts. There are usually 3 hex head bolts.
  4. Gently pull the headlight assembly forward to disengage it from its mounting points.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the high/low beam bulb, turn signal bulb, and any other auxiliary lights.
  6. Remove the old headlight assembly from the vehicle.

6.4. Installing New Headlight Assembly

  1. If not already installed, insert the HB5 high/low beam bulbs and 3157A turn signal bulbs into their respective sockets on the new headlight assembly. Ensure they are securely twisted into place.
  2. Connect the electrical harnesses to the corresponding bulb sockets on the new headlight assembly. Ensure a secure connection.
  3. Align the new headlight assembly with the mounting points on the vehicle.
  4. Push the assembly firmly into place until it seats correctly.
  5. Reinstall the mounting bolts and tighten them securely. Do not overtighten.
  6. Reattach any grille or trim pieces that were removed.
  7. Repeat the process for the other side.

6.5. Headlight Aiming Adjustment

After installation, it is crucial to adjust the headlight aim for optimal visibility and to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. Use the integrated adjuster screw on the back of the headlight assembly (refer to Image 5.2).

  • Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface approximately 25 feet from a wall or garage door.
  • Turn on the low beam headlights.
  • Use a screwdriver to turn the adjuster screw until the headlight beam is properly aligned according to local regulations or vehicle manufacturer guidelines.

7. Operation

The AXLAHA Headlight Assembly functions identically to your vehicle's original headlights. It provides both high and low beam illumination, as well as turn signal indication.

  • Low Beam: Provides general illumination for normal driving conditions.
  • High Beam: Offers maximum illumination for driving in dark areas where no oncoming traffic is present.
  • Turn Signal: Indicates your intended direction of travel.

Ensure all lighting functions are checked after installation.

8. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life and performance of your headlight assemblies.

8.1. Cleaning

  • Clean the outer lens regularly with a soft cloth and mild automotive soap or glass cleaner.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the lens or UV coating.

8.2. UV Protection and Durability

The headlight assemblies feature a UV coating designed to resist yellowing and cracking over time, and are constructed to be dustproof and waterproof (IP70 rated).
