The XDM1041 is a high-precision 55,000-count bench-style digital multimeter designed for various electrical measurements in laboratories, factories, and educational settings.

2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent electric shock, fire, or personal injury.

  • Do not use the multimeter if it appears damaged or is not operating properly.
  • Ensure the correct function and range are selected before making measurements.
  • Do not exceed the maximum input limits for any measurement function.
  • Use caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
  • Always connect the common (COM) test lead before connecting the live test lead. Disconnect the live test lead first.
  • Replace fuses only with the specified type and rating.

6. Operating Instructions

The XDM1041 offers various measurement functions. Select the desired function using the dedicated buttons on the front panel.

6.1 Basic Measurements

  • Voltage (DCV/ACV): Press the =V or ~V button. Connect test leads in parallel with the circuit or component.
  • Current (DCA/ACA): Press the =A or ~A button. Connect test leads in series with the circuit. Ensure correct input terminal (mA or 10A).
  • Resistance (Ω): Press the Ω button. Connect test leads across the component. Ensure the circuit is de-energized.
  • Capacitance (F): Press the F button. Connect test leads across the capacitor. Ensure the capacitor is discharged before testing.
  • Diode Test (->|): Press the ->| button. Connect test leads across the diode.
  • Continuity Test ()))): Press the ))) button. Connect test leads across the circuit path. An audible tone indicates continuity.
  • Temperature (Temp): Press the Temp button. Connect a K-type thermocouple (not included) to the input terminals.

6.2 Advanced Functions

  • Data Logging: The multimeter supports manual or automatic recording of measured data to internal memory. This data can be retrieved and processed using PC software.
  • SCPI Support: The XDM1041 supports SCPI commands, allowing remote control of the multimeter via the USB port using PC software.
  • Dual Line Display: The 3.5-inch LCD supports dual-line display, showing primary and secondary measurement parameters simultaneously.
  • MAX/MIN/Average Measurement: Use the Math function to display maximum, minimum, and average values over a measurement period.
  • Relative Measurement (REL): This function allows you to set the current reading as a reference and display subsequent measurements as a deviation from this reference.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your multimeter.

7.1 Cleaning

Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the device is powered off and disconnected from all circuits before cleaning.

7.2 Fuse Replacement

The XDM1041 is equipped with a replaceable fuse for protection against overcurrent. If the multimeter fails to measure current or shows an error, the fuse may need replacement.

  1. Ensure the multimeter is powered off and disconnected from the AC power supply and all measurement circuits.
  2. Locate the fuse box on the rear panel, typically under the AC input.
  3. Carefully open the fuse compartment.
  4. Remove the old fuse and replace it with a new fuse of the exact same type and rating (e.g., F1AL 250V). A spare fuse is usually included.
  5. Close the fuse compartment securely.

Warning: Using an incorrect fuse type can damage the multimeter and pose a safety hazard.
