Initial Setup
1. Unpacking
Carefully remove the appliance from its packaging. Remove all packing materials and ensure all components are present. Keep packaging for future transport or storage.
2. First Use Preparation
- Fill the water tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine, fill it with fresh cold water up to the MAX level, and reinsert it.
- Fill the bean hopper: Open the lid of the bean hopper and pour fresh coffee beans into it. Do not use ground coffee in the bean hopper.
- Plug in the appliance: Insert the power plug into a suitable wall outlet.
- Turn on the machine: Press the power button. The machine will perform an automatic rinse cycle. Place a container under the coffee spouts to collect the water.
- Set water hardness (optional but recommended): Refer to the "Maintenance" section for instructions on how to test and set water hardness for optimal descaling reminders.
Operating Instructions
1. Making Espresso/Coffee
- Ensure the water tank is filled and the bean hopper contains coffee beans.
- Place one or two cups under the coffee spouts.
- Use the "SELECT DRINK" dial to choose your desired coffee strength or type.
- Press the "BREW" button to start brewing. For a double serving, press the "2x" button before pressing "BREW".
- The machine will grind the beans, brew the coffee, and dispense it into your cup(s).
2. Making Cappuccino/Latte Macchiato (with Milk Frother)
- Fill the milk carafe with fresh cold milk up to the indicated level.
- Attach the milk carafe to the machine's frothing spout.
- Place a large cup under the coffee spouts and milk frother.
- Select your desired milk-based drink (e.g., Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato) using the "SELECT DRINK" dial.
- Press the "BREW" button. The machine will first froth the milk, then brew the coffee.
- After dispensing, remove the milk carafe and clean it immediately as per the "Maintenance" section.
3. Hot Water Dispensing
To dispense hot water for tea or infusions:
- Place a cup under the hot water spout (if separate, or under the coffee spouts if shared).
- Select the hot water function using the "SELECT DRINK" dial.
- Press the "BREW" button to start dispensing. Press again to stop.
Maintenance and Cleaning
1. Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray and grounds container daily. Rinse with warm water.
- Coffee Spouts: Wipe the coffee spouts with a damp cloth.
- Milk Carafe: After each use, perform the "CLEAN" cycle for the milk carafe. Disassemble and wash all components of the milk carafe with warm water and mild detergent regularly.
2. Brewing Unit Cleaning
The brewing unit should be rinsed with fresh water at least once a month or after approximately 200 coffees.
- Turn off the machine and unplug it.
- Open the service door on the side of the machine.
- Press the two red release buttons and pull out the brewing unit.
- Rinse the brewing unit under running tap water until no coffee residue is visible.
- Allow it to air dry before reinserting.
3. Descaling
The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use only De'Longhi descaler solution.
- Empty the water tank and fill it with the descaling solution as per the descaler instructions.
- Place a large container (at least 1.5 liters) under the coffee spouts and the hot water/steam spout.
- Follow the on-screen prompts or manual instructions for the descaling cycle. This process typically takes about 30 minutes.
- After the descaling solution is used, rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water. Perform rinse cycles as prompted by the machine to flush out any remaining descaler.
