3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Charging the Device

Before initial use, fully charge the MAXTO M2 unit. Connect the provided USB Type-C charging cable to the charging port on the device and to a USB power source. The indicator light will show charging status.

  • Charging Time: Approximately 3 hours for a full charge.
  • Battery Life: Up to 16 hours of Bluetooth usage, 200 hours standby time.
  • Important: If the product will not be used for an extended period, charge it regularly every three months to maintain battery health.

3.2 Helmet Installation

The MAXTO M2 is designed to fit various helmet types, including full-face, open-face, off-road, and half helmets. Choose between the clamp mount or adhesive mount based on your helmet's design and personal preference.

  1. Mounting the Unit: Securely attach the main unit to the side of your helmet using either the clamp mount (for helmets with a suitable edge) or the adhesive mount (for smooth surfaces). Ensure it is firmly in place.
  2. Speaker Placement: Position the speakers inside the helmet's ear pockets. Use the provided Velcro pads to secure them. Ensure speakers are aligned with your ears for optimal audio quality.
  3. Microphone Attachment: Attach the microphone to the inside of the helmet, positioning it close to your mouth but not directly in front to avoid wind noise. Use the boom microphone for open-face helmets and the soft wire microphone for full-face helmets.
  4. Cable Management: Route all cables neatly under the helmet padding to prevent interference and ensure comfort.

3.3 Bluetooth Pairing

The MAXTO M2 utilizes Bluetooth 5.0 technology for stable connections with your mobile phone, GPS devices, and other Bluetooth intercom systems.

  1. Power On: Press and hold the power button until the indicator light flashes, indicating the device is on.
  2. Enter Pairing Mode: Refer to your device's specific instructions to enter Bluetooth pairing mode (usually involves holding a button until the indicator flashes rapidly or alternates colors).
  3. Connect to Phone/GPS: On your mobile phone or GPS device, search for Bluetooth devices and select "MAXTO M2" from the list. Confirm pairing if prompted.
  4. Intercom Pairing: To pair with another MAXTO M2 unit or a compatible Bluetooth intercom, follow the specific pairing instructions for intercom mode (typically involves both units entering pairing mode simultaneously).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Controls and Interface

The MAXTO M2 features an integrated large jog wheel and button for intuitive, one-touch operation, even while wearing gloves.

4.2 Intercom Communication

The M2 supports a 6-way intercom system, allowing up to six riders to communicate simultaneously over a maximum open distance of 3280 feet (approximately 1000 meters). For one-to-one intercom, the effective range is up to 656 feet (200 meters).

  • Initiating Intercom: Refer to the quick start guide for specific button presses to initiate and switch between intercom channels.
  • Group Intercom: Once paired, riders can join a group conversation, sharing real-time updates and enhancing safety.

4.3 Phone Calls

When paired with your mobile phone, the M2 allows for hands-free phone calls, voice dialing, and automatic answering or rejecting of incoming calls.

  • Answering/Rejecting Calls: The device can be configured to automatically answer calls or allow manual control via the main button.
  • Voice Dialing: Activate your phone's voice assistant through the headset for hands-free dialing.

4.4 Music and FM Radio

Enjoy stereo music streaming from your paired device or listen to your favorite FM radio stations.

  • Music Playback: Control playback (play/pause, next/previous track) directly from the M2 unit.
  • FM Radio: Scan and save FM radio stations.
  • Music Sharing: The M2 supports remote music and FM sharing with other paired units.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Wipe the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

5.2 Water Resistance

The MAXTO M2 is IP65 waterproof, providing protection against dust and low-pressure water jets. It is suitable for use in rainy conditions but should not be submerged in water.

5.3 Battery Care

As mentioned in the charging section, ensure regular charging if the device is stored for long periods to prevent battery degradation.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MAXTO M2, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Power: Ensure the device is fully charged. Connect to a power source and check the charging indicator.
  • Cannot Pair: Ensure both devices are in pairing mode. Turn off and on Bluetooth on your phone/GPS. Clear previous pairings and try again.
  • Intercom Disconnection/Stuttering: Ensure units are within range and there are no significant obstructions. Bluetooth 5.0 and A2DP EDR optimization are designed to minimize these issues.
