1. Product Overview

2. Setup

2.1 Package Contents

Before you begin, ensure all items are present in the package:

2.2 Physical Installation

The ER8411 router can be placed on a desktop or mounted in a standard 19-inch rack using the provided kit. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.

2.3 Connecting the Router

  1. Power Connection: Connect the provided power cord to the router's power input and then to a power outlet.
  2. WAN Connection: Connect your internet service provider's modem or main network line to one of the WAN ports (e.g., 10G SFP+ WAN, 10G SFP+ WAN/LAN, or Gigabit RJ45 WAN/LAN).
  3. LAN Connection: Connect your local network devices (computers, switches, access points) to the available LAN ports.
  4. USB Ports: The two USB 3.0 ports can be used for LTE backup (one port supports this function) or other compatible USB devices.

2.4 Initial Configuration

For initial setup, connect a computer directly to one of the router's LAN ports. Access the router's web-based management interface via a web browser using the default IP address (typically 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1). Refer to the Quick Installation Guide for specific default login credentials.

3. Operating the Router

3.1 Omada SDN Integration

The ER8411 is designed to be managed through the TP-Link Omada SDN platform. This allows for centralized control of your entire network, including Omada gateways, access points, and switches, from a single interface.

  • Omada Hardware Controller: For on-premises management without a PC server.
  • Omada Software Controller: A free software solution for on-premises management.
  • Omada Cloud-based Controller: Provides remote cloud access and management via the Omada app or web browser. Contact TP-Link for plan details.

3.2 VPN Configuration

4. Maintenance

4.1 Firmware Updates

4.2 Device Care

  • Keep the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Ensure proper ventilation to prevent overheating.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Controller Status: Check if the Omada Controller (hardware or software) is running and accessible.
