1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your HICFM 1500W Electric Utility Space Heater. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the appliance and retain it for future reference. Proper use and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your heater.

2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, read and understand all instructions before using this heater.

• Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
• This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. Use handles when moving this heater.
• Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front of the heater and away from the sides and rear.
• Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
• Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Discard heater or return to authorized service facility for examination and/or repair.
• Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
• Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
• To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
• This heater is intended for use in indoor residential areas only.
• The heater is equipped with a Tip-Over Switch that automatically shuts off the unit if it is tipped forward or backward.
• An Automatic Overheat System will shut the unit off automatically when parts of the heater overheat.
• The unit is UL Safety Approved, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

4. Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the heater from its packaging. Retain packaging for off-season storage.
2. Placement: Place the heater on a firm, level surface. Ensure it is at least 3 feet (0.9 m) away from walls, furniture, and any other combustible materials. Do not place it on soft surfaces like rugs or carpets that could block the air intake.
3. Power Connection: Unwind the power cord from the integrated cord wrap on the back of the unit. Plug the heater directly into a 120V AC, 60Hz wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.

5. Operating Instructions

1. Power On: Plug the heater into a suitable electrical outlet. The red power indicator light on the control panel will illuminate, indicating the unit is receiving power.
2. Select Mode: Use the right rotary knob (Power Setting) to select your desired operating mode:
   • OFF: Turns the heater off.
   • FAN: Activates the fan only, providing air circulation without heat.
   • 750W (Low Heat): Provides a lower heat output for moderate warmth.
   • 1500W (High Heat): Provides maximum heat output for rapid warming.
3. Adjust Thermostat: Use the left rotary knob (Thermostat Control) to set the desired room temperature. Turn the knob towards 'HIGH' for warmer temperatures and 'LOW' for cooler temperatures. The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.
4. Power Off: To turn off the heater, rotate the right rotary knob (Power Setting) to the 'OFF' position. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet when not in use.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your heater.

• Cleaning: Always unplug the heater before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no water enters the interior of the heater.
• Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust and lint from the air intake and exhaust grilles. This should be done regularly to prevent overheating.
• Storage: When not in use, especially during warmer months, store the heater in a cool, dry place. Wrap the power cord neatly using the integrated cord wrap to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If your heater experiences issues, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:

• Heater Does Not Operate:
  • Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
  • Check if the power setting knob is set to '750W' or '1500W' and the thermostat knob is set to a temperature higher than the current room temperature.
  • Verify that the tip-over switch has not been activated (ensure the heater is on a flat, stable surface).
  • Check your household circuit breaker or fuse box.
• Heater Shuts Off Unexpectedly (Reset Instructions):
  • This indicates the automatic overheat system or tip-over switch has been activated.
  • 1. Turn the Power Control knob to 'OFF'.
  • 2. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and wait 30 minutes for it to cool down.
  • 3. Plug the unit back in and operate normally. Ensure there are no obstructions to airflow and the unit is on a stable surface.
• Reduced Heat Output:
  • Ensure the heater is set to '1500W' for maximum heat.
  • Clean any dust or debris from the air intake and exhaust grilles.
