1. Introduction

The Reland Sun STC-3000 is a digital temperature controller designed for precise temperature management in various applications. It features a clear digital display, a temperature sensor, and the ability to control both heating and cooling devices to maintain a desired temperature range. This manual provides essential information for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of your STC-3000 controller.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard. Read all safety warnings and instructions carefully before installation and operation.

  • Ensure the power supply voltage matches the controller's specified voltage (24V DC).
  • All wiring must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical codes.
  • Disconnect power before making any wiring connections or performing maintenance.
  • Do not operate the controller in environments with excessive moisture, dust, or corrosive gases.
  • Keep the device away from children.
  • Strictly distinguish the interface connection of the relay, sensor, and power supply. Ensure proper distance between sensor lead and power wires to avoid interference.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Mounting

The STC-3000 is designed for panel mounting. Ensure adequate space for ventilation and access to wiring terminals. Secure the controller firmly in its designated panel cutout.

4.2 Wiring Diagram

Refer to the wiring diagram on the back of the unit and the illustration below for correct connections. Incorrect wiring can damage the device or cause safety hazards.

Figure 3: Top view of the STC-3000 controller, clearly showing the wiring diagram printed on the top surface. Terminals are numbered 1 through 8.

The wiring terminals are located on the back of the unit. Ensure all connections are secure.

  • Terminals 1 & 2: Power Supply (DC 24V). Connect your 24V DC power source here.
  • Terminals 3 & 4: Temperature Sensor. Connect the NTC sensor probe here. Polarity typically does not matter for NTC sensors.
  • Terminals 5 & 6: Heating Output. Connect your heating device (e.g., heater, relay for heater) to these terminals.
  • Terminals 7 & 8: Cooling Output. Connect your cooling device (e.g., fan, compressor, relay for cooler) to these terminals.

Note: The heating and cooling outputs are relay contacts. Ensure the connected loads do not exceed the relay's maximum current rating (typically 10A/220VAC or 10A/24VDC, refer to device label for exact ratings).

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the Power button once to turn the controller on or off.

5.2 Setting Temperature (Set Point)

  1. Press the 'S' button briefly. The display will flash, showing the current set temperature.
  2. Use the Up arrow button and Down arrow button to adjust the desired temperature.
  3. Press the 'S' button again to confirm and save the new setting.

5.3 Advanced Parameter Settings (Differential, Calibration, etc.)

To access advanced settings, press and hold the 'S' button for approximately 3 seconds. The display will show parameter codes (e.g., F1, F2). Use the Up arrow button and Down arrow button to navigate through parameters and adjust their values. Press 'S' to enter a parameter and again to save the value.

Common parameters include:

  • F1: Temperature Differential (Hysteresis). This sets the difference between the set temperature and the temperature at which the output switches off. For example, if set to 2°C and the set point is 25°C in heating mode, the heater turns on at 23°C and off at 25°C. In cooling mode, the cooler turns on at 27°C and off at 25°C.
  • F2: Temperature Calibration. Used to adjust the sensor reading if there is a known offset.
  • F3: Delay Start Time. Sets a delay before the output activates after a temperature change, protecting compressors or other devices.
  • F4: High Temperature Alarm. Sets a maximum temperature threshold.
  • F5: Low Temperature Alarm. Sets a minimum temperature threshold.

Refer to the specific parameter list provided with your controller for detailed descriptions and default values, as these may vary slightly.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the controller's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Sensor Care: Ensure the temperature sensor is clean and free from debris. Avoid bending or damaging the sensor cable.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Controller does not power on.No power supply; incorrect voltage; faulty wiring.Check power connections and ensure 24V DC supply. Verify wiring.
Display shows "HHH" or "LLL".Sensor error (open circuit, short circuit, or out of range).Check sensor wiring. Replace sensor if damaged.
Heating/Cooling output not activating.Incorrect set point or differential; faulty wiring to load; load device failure.Verify set temperature and differential settings. Check wiring to heating/cooling device. Test the load device independently.
Temperature reading is inaccurate.Sensor placement; sensor calibration needed; faulty sensor.Relocate sensor to a representative area. Use F2 parameter for calibration. Replace sensor if necessary.
