4. Setup

2. Place a container under the portafilter spout and the steam wand.
3. Press the power button to turn on the machine. The lights will flash during heating.
4. Once the lights are steady, press the single espresso button to dispense water through the portafilter. Repeat this process until water flows smoothly.
5. Turn the steam knob to dispense water through the steam wand for a few seconds. Close the knob.
6. The machine is now primed and ready for use.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making Espresso

1. Ensure the machine is on and heated (lights steady).
2. Insert the appropriate filter basket into the portafilter (single or double shot).
3. Fill the filter basket with finely ground espresso coffee. Level the coffee and tamp it firmly.
4. Attach the portafilter to the group head by inserting it from the left and rotating it to the right until it is securely locked.
5. Place one or two cups under the portafilter spouts.
6. Press the single or double espresso button to start brewing. The machine will automatically stop when the programmed volume is reached.
7. To stop brewing manually, press the button again.

5.2 Frothing Milk

1. Press the steam button. The light will flash until the machine reaches steam temperature, then become steady.
2. Fill a pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
3. Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
4. Turn the steam knob to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down to create foam.
5. Once desired foam and temperature are achieved, turn the steam knob off.
6. Clean the steam wand immediately after use with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

• Portafilter: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard spent coffee grounds, and rinse thoroughly under running water.

• Steam Wand: Always wipe the steam wand immediately after frothing milk. Periodically, remove the nozzle and rinse it to clear any blockages.
• Machine Body: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

6.2 Descaling

Descaling is crucial to remove mineral buildup and maintain machine efficiency. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage. The machine may indicate when descaling is needed.

1. Use a suitable DeLonghi descaling solution. Follow the instructions on the descaler packaging.
2. Empty the water tank and fill it with the descaling solution mixed with water as per instructions.
3. Place a large container under the portafilter and steam wand.
