  • Multimeter: 20000 counts, True RMS, measures voltage, current, resistance, diode, capacitance, and continuity. Features auto range and reading hold. Max AC 750V, DC 1000V input.
  • Waveform Generator: Max 25MHz frequency output, supports sine, square, ramp, pulse, and arbitrary waveforms. 0.1Hz frequency resolution, 125MSa/s high sampling rate, 8k waveform length.

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the internal battery. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the device's USB-C port and plug the other end into a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

4.2 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press and hold the power button (usually located on the front panel) until the display illuminates.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the power button until the device shuts down.

4.3 Basic Connections

  • Oscilloscope Probes: Connect the BNC connectors of the oscilloscope probes to the CH1 and CH2 inputs on the top of the device. Ensure the probe compensation is correctly adjusted for accurate measurements.
  • Multimeter Leads: Insert the red test lead into the VΩ+C jack and the black test lead into the COM jack for voltage, resistance, capacitance, and diode measurements. For current measurements, use the mA or 10A jacks as appropriate.
  • Waveform Generator Output: Connect a BNC cable from the GEN Out port to the input of the circuit or device you wish to test.

5. Operating Instructions

The HDS2202S features a 'One Key Switch' function to easily toggle between Oscilloscope, Multimeter, and Waveform Generator modes.

5.1 Oscilloscope Mode

To enter Oscilloscope mode, press the dedicated 'OSC' button or cycle through modes using the 'Mode' button until the oscilloscope interface appears.

  • Auto Set: Press the 'Auto' button for automatic adjustment of vertical, horizontal, and trigger settings to display a stable waveform.
  • Vertical Control: Use the 'CH1/2' button to select a channel, then use the navigation keys to adjust the vertical scale (Volts/Div) and position.
  • Horizontal Control: Use the 'HOR' button and navigation keys to adjust the horizontal scale (Time/Div) and position.
  • Trigger Settings: Press 'Trig/Δ' to access trigger settings. Adjust trigger level, mode (Edge, Pulse, Video), and source using the navigation keys.
  • Measurements: Press 'Measure Range' to display automatic measurements (e.g., Frequency, Period, Vpp, Vmax, Vmin, Vavg, RMS). Use cursor functions for precise manual measurements.
  • Saving Waveforms: Press 'Save' to store waveform data or screenshots.

5.2 Multimeter Mode

To enter Multimeter mode, press the dedicated 'DMM' button or cycle through modes using the 'Mode' button until the multimeter interface appears.

  • Function Selection: Use the function buttons (e.g., V, A, Ω, Cap, Diode, Continuity) to select the desired measurement type.
  • Auto Range: The multimeter typically operates in auto-ranging mode, automatically selecting the appropriate range for the measurement.
  • Reading Hold: Press the 'Hold' button (if available) to freeze the current reading on the display.

5.3 Waveform Generator Mode

To enter Waveform Generator mode, press the dedicated 'GEN' button or cycle through modes using the 'Mode' button until the waveform generator interface appears.

  • Waveform Type: Select the desired waveform type (Sine, Square, Ramp, Pulse, Arbitrary) using the function buttons or navigation keys.
  • Frequency: Adjust the output frequency using the navigation keys. The HDS2202S offers 0.1Hz resolution up to 25MHz.
  • Amplitude: Set the peak-to-peak amplitude of the output waveform.
  • Offset: Adjust the DC offset of the waveform.
  • Output On/Off: Enable or disable the waveform output as needed.

5.4 PC Software Connection

The HDS2202S supports connection to PC software via its USB Type-C interface. This allows for data transfer, remote control, and further analysis of measurements. Refer to the OWON website for compatible software and drivers.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the device's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is powered off and disconnected from all power sources before cleaning.

6.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. If the device will not be used for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% and store it in a cool, dry place. Recharge every few months to prevent deep discharge.
