Setup Instructions

  1. Identify Mounting Points: Locate the 1/4"-20 threaded holes on your camera cage or rig where you intend to attach the articulating arm.
  2. Attach Arm to Rig: Screw one end of the Tilta Mini Articulating Arm into the desired 1/4"-20 threaded hole on your camera rig. Ensure the locating pins (if present on your rig) align with the corresponding holes on the arm's base for added stability. Tighten the knurled knob firmly to secure the arm.
  3. Attach Accessory: Screw your desired accessory (e.g., monitor, LED light, microphone) onto the 1/4"-20 screw at the other end of the articulating arm. If your accessory has locating pin holes, ensure they align with the retractable pins on the arm's head. Tighten the knurled knob on the accessory mount to secure it.

Operating Instructions

  1. Adjusting Position: To adjust the angle or position of your mounted accessory, loosen the central green T-handle on the articulating arm. This will allow the ball joints at both ends to move freely.
  2. Positioning: Carefully move your accessory to the desired angle and orientation. The arm offers flexible adjustment, including 360° rotation and 140° tilt at each ball joint.
  3. Locking Position: Once the accessory is in the desired position, firmly tighten the central green T-handle. This will lock both ball joints simultaneously, securing the accessory in place. Ensure it is tightened sufficiently to prevent unwanted movement, especially with heavier loads.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the arm with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and mild soap, then dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect all screws, joints, and moving parts for any signs of wear, damage, or looseness.
  • Lubrication: The internal mechanisms are designed for long-term use without specific user lubrication. If movement becomes stiff, contact Tilta support.
  • Storage: Store the articulating arm in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures and humidity.

Troubleshooting

  • Arm Not Holding Position:
    • Ensure the central T-handle is fully tightened.
    • Check if the mounted accessory exceeds the arm's maximum payload capacity (9.9 lbs / 4.5 kg).
    • Verify that the locating pins are properly engaged (if applicable) and not retracted if the mounting surface has corresponding holes.
  • Accessory Twisting on Mount:
    • Confirm that the accessory is securely screwed onto the 1/4"-20 thread.
    • Ensure the retractable locating pins are extended and engaged with the accessory's anti-twist holes (if available).
  • Difficulty Tightening/Loosening Handle:
    • Check for any obstructions or debris around the T-handle mechanism.
    • Do not force the handle. If it remains stiff, contact Tilta support.
