4. Setup

4.1 Components Overview

Before starting, ensure you have the BroadLink FastCon Smart Radar Motion Sensor and the required BroadLink Mini Hub GW4C. The Mini Hub acts as the central controller for your FastCon devices.

4.2 App Download and Account Creation

  1. Download the latest BroadLink FastCon App from your device's app store.
  2. Open the app and create an account or log in if you already have one. Ensure your account is properly set up to avoid connectivity issues.

4.3 Pairing the Sensor

  1. Ensure your BroadLink Mini Hub GW4C is powered on and connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  2. In the BroadLink FastCon App, tap the 'Add device' button.
  3. Long press the reset button on the motion sensor until it enters pairing mode.
  4. Wait for the device to appear in the app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process.

4.4 Installation

The motion sensor is designed for easy installation using the included adhesive stickers.

  1. Choose a suitable location for the sensor, such as a wall or flat surface, ensuring it covers the desired detection area.
  2. Clean the surface thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion.
  3. Peel off the protective backing from the adhesive stickers and firmly press the sensor onto the chosen surface. No complex tools or screws are needed.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Remote Monitoring and Alerts

Once installed and paired, the sensor will detect motion within its range. You can monitor its status and receive alerts through the BroadLink FastCon App.

  • Set up alert notifications in the app to receive instant messages on your phone when motion is detected or if the sensor is tampered with.
  • Access the historical record in the app to review past activity, with data stored for up to 30 days.

5.2 Smart Home Automation

Leverage the sensor's capabilities to automate actions with other BroadLink FastCon devices.

  • Create custom routines in the BroadLink FastCon App. For example, configure the sensor to automatically turn on lights when motion is detected in a room.
  • The wide detection range and high sensitivity allow for flexible automation scenarios.

5.3 Alexa Integration

Integrate your motion sensor with Amazon Alexa for voice control and enhanced routines (requires BroadLink Mini Hub GW4C).

  • Enable the BroadLink skill in the Alexa app.
  • Create routines in Alexa to trigger actions based on sensor activity, or ask Alexa for the current status of the sensor.
  • Note: At present, Google Home does not support these specific functions for this device.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

The sensor is powered by 2 AAA batteries. When the battery level is low, you will receive a push notification from the BroadLink FastCon App.

  1. Carefully open the battery compartment on the back of the sensor.
  2. Remove the old AAA batteries.
  3. Insert two new AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery compartment securely.

6.2 Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance, periodically clean the sensor's exterior.

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe away dust or debris.
  • Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the device.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your BroadLink FastCon Smart Radar Motion Sensor, refer to the following common solutions:
