4. Setup and Installation
4.1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the phone.
- Gently slide the cover downwards to remove it.
- Insert the Lithium-Ion battery into the compartment, ensuring the gold contacts align with the phone's terminals.
- Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.
4.2. Charging the Phone
Before first use, fully charge the phone for optimal battery performance.
- Connect the power adapter to the charging cradle.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
- Place the WP822 phone into the charging cradle, ensuring it seats properly. The charging indicator on the phone will illuminate.
- A full charge typically takes approximately 2-3 hours.

4.3. Initial Power On and Wi-Fi Connection
- Press and hold the Power button on the side of the phone until the screen illuminates.
- Follow the on-screen prompts for initial setup, including language selection.
- Navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Select your desired Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted and tap Connect.
- Once connected, the Wi-Fi icon will appear in the status bar.
4.4. Account Configuration (VoIP)
Your WP822 phone requires a VoIP account to make and receive calls. This is typically configured by your IT administrator or service provider. For manual configuration:
- Navigate to Settings > Account Settings.
- Select an available account slot.
- Enter the required SIP account details (SIP Server, User ID, Password, etc.) provided by your VoIP service provider.
- Save the settings. The account status icon should turn green when successfully registered.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Making Calls
- Dialing a Number: Enter the phone number using the numeric keypad and press the Call button.
- From Call History: Navigate to Call History, select a contact, and press the Call button.
- From Contacts: Navigate to Contacts, select a contact, and press the Call button.
5.2. Answering and Ending Calls
- Answering: When the phone rings, press the Call button or the Answer soft key.
- Ending: During a call, press the End button or the End Call soft key.
5.3. In-Call Options
- Hold: Press the Hold soft key to put the current call on hold. Press again to resume.
- Transfer: Press the Transfer soft key, dial the new number, and press Transfer again (consult your VoIP system for blind vs. attended transfer).
- Mute: Press the Mute soft key to mute your microphone. Press again to unmute.
- Speakerphone: Press the Speaker button to toggle speakerphone mode.
- Volume Adjustment: Use the Volume Up/Down buttons on the side of the phone during a call.
5.4. Push-to-Talk (PTT)
The WP822 features a configurable Push-to-Talk button. This function allows for instant, one-way communication similar to a walkie-talkie, typically used within a defined group or channel. Consult your system administrator for PTT configuration and usage details specific to your network.
- To initiate PTT: Press and hold the configured PTT button.
- To speak: Speak clearly into the microphone while holding the button.
- To listen: Release the PTT button.
6. Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the phone and charging cradle. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents.
- Battery Life: To maximize battery life, avoid extreme temperatures. Fully charge the battery before long periods of inactivity.
- Storage: If storing the phone for an extended period, remove the battery. Store in a cool, dry place.
- Water Resistance: The WP822 is not waterproof. Avoid exposing the device to liquids.
