1. Introduction

5. Setup

5.1 Physical Installation

  1. Mounting the Controller: Choose a suitable location near your water system. The controller can be wall-mounted using the provided screws and anchors, or hung using suction cups. Ensure the location is dry and protected from direct water splashes.
  2. Connecting Probes: Connect the pH electrode, ORP electrode, and temperature probe to their respective BNC and jack inputs on the controller unit. Ensure connections are secure.
  3. Placing Probes: Submerge the pH and ORP electrodes, along with the temperature probe, into the water solution you wish to monitor. Ensure the probe tips are fully immersed and stable.
  4. Connecting Dosing Devices: Plug any external dosing devices (e.g., pumps, CO2 regulators) into the dual power sockets on the side of the controller.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the controller's power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet.

5.2 App Connection (Tuya Smart App)

To enable remote monitoring and control, connect the device to the Tuya Smart app:

  1. Download the Tuya Smart app from your mobile device's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Register or log in to your Tuya account.
  3. Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network. The controller only supports 2.4GHz WiFi.
  4. Open the app and press 'Add Device'.
  5. Select the WiFi connection option for the controller.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the controller to your WiFi network. This typically involves putting the device into pairing mode (refer to the controller's display or buttons for specific instructions, often indicated by a flashing WiFi icon).
  7. Wait for the app to detect and add your device. Once added, press 'Done'.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Reading Measurements

Once powered on and probes are immersed, the controller's LCD display will show real-time pH, ORP, and temperature values. The mobile app will also display these readings.

6.2 Setting Control Parameters

The controller allows you to set desired pH and ORP values to automate the operation of connected dosing devices. This is primarily done through the mobile application.

  1. Access Settings: Open the Tuya Smart app and select your DANOPLUS controller.
  2. Set pH/ORP Thresholds: Navigate to the control settings for pH and ORP. You can set a target value and a range (high/low thresholds).
  3. Configure Dosing Logic: Define how the connected power sockets should react to the measurements. For example, you can set a device to turn ON if pH drops below a certain value and turn OFF when it rises above another, or vice-versa for ORP.
  4. Save Settings: Ensure you save your configured parameters within the app. The controller will then operate automatically based on these settings.

The controller's relay outputs will activate or deactivate the connected devices based on the programmed thresholds. For instance, if the pH measurement falls below your set minimum, the corresponding power socket can activate a pH-increasing pump.

7. Calibration

Regular calibration of the pH and ORP probes is essential for maintaining accuracy. Use the provided calibration powders.

7.1 pH Calibration

  1. Prepare the pH buffer solutions (e.g., pH 4.00, pH 6.86, pH 9.18) according to their instructions.
  2. Rinse the pH electrode with distilled water and gently blot dry.
  3. Immerse the pH electrode into the first buffer solution (e.g., pH 6.86).
  4. On the controller, press and hold the 'CAL' button for pH until the display enters calibration mode.
  5. Adjust the reading using a mini-screwdriver on the calibration screw until it matches the buffer solution value.
  6. Repeat the process for a second and third buffer solution (e.g., pH 4.00 and pH 9.18) for a 3-point calibration, rinsing the probe between each solution.
  7. Confirm calibration on the device or app.

7.2 ORP Calibration

  1. Prepare the ORP buffer solution (e.g., 256mV) according to its instructions.
  2. Rinse the ORP electrode with distilled water and gently blot dry.
  3. Immerse the ORP electrode into the buffer solution.
  4. On the controller, press and hold the 'CAL' button for ORP until the display enters calibration mode.
  5. Adjust the reading using a mini-screwdriver on the calibration screw until it matches the buffer solution value.
  6. Confirm calibration.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Probe Care

  • Always keep the pH and ORP electrodes moist when not in use. Store them in their protective caps with a storage solution or pH 4 buffer. Never store them dry.
  • Rinse probes with distilled water before and after each use.
  • Clean probes regularly to remove any buildup or contamination that could affect accuracy. Use a soft brush and a mild cleaning solution if necessary.
  • Replace probes when they no longer calibrate accurately or show signs of damage.

8.2 Fuse Replacement

The controller is equipped with a fuse for circuit protection. If the unit loses power unexpectedly, check the fuse located on the side power strip.

  1. Disconnect the controller from the main power supply.
  2. Carefully unscrew the fuse cap on the power strip.
  3. Remove the old fuse and inspect it for breakage.
  4. Replace with a new fuse of the same type and rating.
  5. Securely screw the fuse cap back into place.
  6. Reconnect power and test the unit.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure probes are clean and properly calibrated. Check for air bubbles around the probe tips. Verify that the probes are fully immersed.
  • Controller Not Responding/No Power: Check the power connection and the fuse. Ensure the power outlet is functional.
  • WiFi Connection Issues: Confirm your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz signal. Ensure the controller is within range of the WiFi router. Restart the controller and attempt to reconnect via the Tuya app.
  • Dosing Devices Not Activating: Verify that the pH/ORP thresholds are correctly set in the app. Ensure the dosing devices are properly plugged into the controller's power sockets and are functional independently. Check the controller's display to confirm current readings are outside the set thresholds.
  • Slow Trigger/Response Time: While the controller provides continuous monitoring, there might be a slight delay in relay activation depending on the system's stability and the sensitivity settings in the app. Ensure stable probe readings before expecting immediate action.
  • Overheating/Smoke: Immediately disconnect power. This indicates a serious malfunction. Do not attempt to use the device further. Contact customer support.
