Frothing Milk

Use the steam wand to create rich, creamy milk foam for lattes and cappuccinos.

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
  2. Activate Steam: Turn the steam knob to the steam position. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate steadily, indicating the machine has reached frothing temperature.
  3. Purge Wand: Briefly open the steam valve to release any condensed water from the wand. Close it immediately.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam valve slowly. Move the pitcher up and down to incorporate air and create foam.
  5. Heat Milk: Once desired foam is achieved, lower the wand deeper into the milk to heat it to your preferred temperature.
  6. Stop Steaming: Close the steam valve, then remove the pitcher.
  7. Clean Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear any internal milk residue.

Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

Descaling

Regular descaling is essential to maintain optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your espresso machine, especially in areas with hard water. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage.

  1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
  3. Place a large container under the portafilter and steam wand.
  4. Run approximately half of the solution through the espresso function, then run the remaining half through the steam wand.
  5. After descaling, rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
  6. Run several cycles of fresh water through both the espresso function and the steam wand to ensure all descaling solution is flushed out.
