3. Setup Instructions

The STRONG CPL600 Powerline Wi-Fi Kit is designed for easy plug-and-play installation. Follow these steps to set up your network:

  1. Connect the First Adapter: Plug the CPL 600Mbps Powerline Adapter (the one with the filtered socket) into a wall power outlet near your internet router/modem. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the adapter's Ethernet port and the other end to a LAN port on your internet router/modem.
  2. Connect the Second Adapter: Plug the CPL Wi-Fi 500Mbps Powerline Adapter into a wall power outlet in the room where you need extended internet access. Ensure it is not plugged into a power strip or extension cord for optimal performance.
  3. Establish Connection: The adapters will automatically detect each other and establish a secure powerline connection. The Power LED on both adapters should turn solid green, indicating a successful connection.
  4. Connect Devices via Ethernet: For wired devices like Smart TVs, gaming consoles, or desktop computers, connect an Ethernet cable from the device to the Ethernet port on the CPL Wi-Fi adapter.
  5. Connect Devices via Wi-Fi: The CPL Wi-Fi adapter will create a new Wi-Fi network. You can find the default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password on a label on the adapter. Connect your Wi-Fi-enabled devices (laptops, smartphones, tablets) to this new network.
  6. Secure Your Connection (Optional - Connect & Secure): For enhanced security, press the 'Connect & Secure' button on the CPL 600Mbps adapter for 2 seconds, then within 2 minutes, press the 'Connect & Secure' button on the CPL Wi-Fi adapter for 2 seconds. This will encrypt your powerline network.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your STRONG CPL600 Powerline Wi-Fi Kit, consider the following maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the adapters with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Placement: Avoid placing the adapters in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in excessively humid environments.
  • Power Outlets: For best performance, plug the adapters directly into wall power outlets. Avoid using power strips, extension cords, or surge protectors, as these can interfere with the powerline signal.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Strong official website for any available firmware updates for your model to ensure optimal performance and security.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Powerline Wi-Fi Kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power/LEDs Off:
Ensure both adapters are securely plugged into live wall power outlets. Check the power outlet with another device to confirm it is working.
  • No Powerline Connection (Power LED blinking or off):
Make sure both adapters are on the same electrical circuit. Try plugging them into different outlets within the same circuit. Avoid power strips or surge protectors. If the issue persists, try the 'Connect & Secure' pairing process again.
  • No Internet Access:
Verify that your internet router/modem is working correctly and has an active internet connection. Ensure the Ethernet cable connecting the first CPL adapter to your router is secure. Check the network settings on your connected device.
  • Slow Internet Speed:
Interference from other electrical devices (e.g., motors, chargers) can affect powerline performance. Try moving the adapters to different outlets. Ensure the adapters are not plugged into power strips. Large electrical appliances on the same circuit can also cause degradation.
  • Wi-Fi Network Not Visible or Cannot Connect:
Ensure the CPL Wi-Fi adapter is powered on and its Wi-Fi LED is active. Check the Wi-Fi SSID and password on the adapter's label. If you changed the Wi-Fi settings, ensure they are correctly entered on your device. A factory reset (refer to the adapter's specific reset button instructions) might be necessary if custom settings are causing issues.
  • Connect & Secure Pairing Failure:
Ensure you press the buttons within the specified time frame (usually 2 minutes). Try the pairing process again. If unsuccessful, a factory reset on both adapters might resolve the issue before re-pairing.
