1. Product Overview
The Hooke Road Gladiator Running Boards Side Steps are designed to provide enhanced accessibility and undercarriage protection for your 2020-2026 Jeep Gladiator JT. These cab-length side steps feature a curved steel tube design that integrates seamlessly with the vehicle's body lines, offering a rugged off-road appearance with delicate hollowed-out star logos.
Constructed from durable carbon steel, these running boards are engineered for longevity. They feature a dual-layer protection system: an E-coating process applied inside and out for superior corrosion resistance, followed by a textured black powder coat finish for added durability and a stylish look. The steps include 6.2-inch wide non-slip step pads to ensure secure entry and exit.

3. Installation Instructions
This product features a simple bolt-on installation process, utilizing your vehicle's factory mounting points. No drilling is required. It is recommended to have a second person assist with the installation.
Required Tools (Not Included):
- Ratchet
- Socket Wrench Set
- Allen Wrench Set (if applicable for hardware)
Pre-Installation Notes:
- Ensure your vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
- If your Jeep Gladiator JT is equipped with factory running boards or rock sliders, these must be removed prior to installing the Hooke Road side steps.
- Identify the driver side and passenger side running boards. The longer gap on the running board should typically align with the front door, which is wider. This ensures proper alignment with the factory bolt holes.
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Identify Components: Separate the driver and passenger side running boards. Refer to Image 3.1 to distinguish between the two. Also, identify the mounting brackets (A, B, C) and corresponding hardware.
- Position Brackets: Attach the appropriate mounting brackets to the factory mounting points on the vehicle's frame. Do not fully tighten the hardware at this stage; allow for some adjustability.
- Attach Running Boards: Carefully lift the running board into position and align it with the installed mounting brackets. Secure the running board to the brackets using the provided hardware. Again, do not fully tighten yet.
- Adjust and Align: With all hardware loosely installed, adjust the running board for optimal fitment and alignment with the vehicle's body. Ensure the step is level and positioned correctly.
- Final Tightening: Once satisfied with the alignment, progressively tighten all bolts, starting from the center and working outwards. IMPORTANT: Do NOT over-tighten the bolts. Over-tightening can strip the bolt heads or damage the mounting points. Use a hand ratchet for final tightening to ensure a secure fit without excessive force.
- Repeat for Other Side: Follow the same steps for the opposite side of the vehicle.

4. Usage Guidelines
These running boards are designed to assist with vehicle entry and exit and provide side protection. While robust, they are not intended for use as a primary lifting point for the vehicle or for extreme rock crawling where direct impact on the step surface is expected. Always step onto the designated non-slip pads for secure footing.
The maximum recommended weight limit for these side steps is 80 pounds per step. Exceeding this limit may cause damage to the product or vehicle mounting points.
5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and appearance of your Hooke Road running boards, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Regular Cleaning: Wash the running boards regularly with mild automotive soap and water to remove dirt, mud, and road grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the textured powder coat finish.
- Inspect Hardware: Periodically check all mounting hardware for tightness. Vibrations from driving can sometimes loosen bolts over time. Re-tighten any loose bolts to the recommended torque specifications (refer to your vehicle's service manual for general torque guidelines for similar fasteners, or consult a professional).
- Check for Damage: Inspect the running boards for any signs of damage, such as dents, scratches, or corrosion. Minor scratches on the powder coat can be touched up with appropriate paint to prevent rust.
- Corrosion Resistance: The E-coating provides excellent corrosion resistance, but regular cleaning and inspection are still important, especially in areas exposed to road salt or harsh weather conditions.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues during or after installation, consider the following:
- Fitment Issues: If bolt holes do not align perfectly, ensure the correct running board (driver vs. passenger side) is on the correct side and oriented properly (longer gap typically towards the front door). Slight adjustments to the loosely fitted brackets may be necessary before final tightening.
- Stripped Bolts: Avoid over-tightening hardware. If a bolt head strips, it may need to be carefully extracted and replaced. It is advisable to have spare hardware on hand or contact a professional for assistance.
- Loose Steps: If the steps feel loose after installation, re-check all mounting hardware for proper tightness. Ensure all bolts are securely fastened to the vehicle's frame and the running boards.
