2. Important Safety Information
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, observe the following safety precautions:
- Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
- This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. Use handles when moving this heater.
- Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.
- Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
- Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
- Do not use outdoors.
- To disconnect heater, turn controls to OFF, then remove plug from outlet.
- Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
- To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
- This heater has an automatic safety shutoff system that will cut off power if the heater overheats. It also features a tip-over protection system that shuts the heater off if it is accidentally knocked over.

4. Setup
- Unpack the heater and all accessories. Retain packaging for storage.
- Place the heater on a firm, level surface. Ensure it is at least 3 feet (0.9 m) away from walls, furniture, and other combustible materials.
- Ensure the power cord is not obstructed or pinched.
- Plug the heater directly into a 120V AC, 60Hz wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.
5. Operating Instructions
Your Brightown PTC-1901 heater features two rotary dials for control:
- Mode Dial (Right Dial): Selects the operating mode.
- Thermostat Dial (Left Dial): Adjusts the desired temperature.
5.1 Powering On/Off
- To turn on, rotate the Mode Dial from 'OFF' to 'FAN', 'I' (Low Heat), or 'II' (High Heat). The power indicator light will illuminate.
- To turn off, rotate the Mode Dial to 'OFF'. The power indicator light will turn off.
5.2 Selecting Heat Modes
- FAN: Activates the fan without heat, providing cool air circulation.
- I (Low Heat): Provides 750W of heat, suitable for lightly cold weather or maintaining warmth.
- II (High Heat): Provides 1500W of heat, suitable for quickly warming up a room in cold weather.
5.3 Adjusting Thermostat
- Once a heat mode ('I' or 'II') is selected, use the Thermostat Dial to set your desired room temperature.
- Rotate the dial towards '+' for higher temperatures and towards '-' for lower temperatures.
- The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces of the heater.
- Do not use cleaning sprays, harsh chemicals, or abrasives.
- Gently vacuum the air intake and exhaust grilles to remove dust and lint.
6.2 Storage
When not in use, store the heater in a cool, dry location. It is recommended to store it in its original packaging to protect it from dust and damage.
7. Troubleshooting
- Heater does not operate:
- Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a 120V wall outlet.
- Check if the Mode Dial is set to 'FAN', 'I', or 'II'.
- Verify that the Thermostat Dial is set to a temperature higher than the current room temperature.
- Check the tip-over safety switch on the bottom of the unit. Ensure the heater is on a flat, stable surface and the switch is fully depressed.
- Check your household circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Heater turns off unexpectedly:
- The overheat protection system may have activated. Unplug the heater, allow it to cool for 30 minutes, and ensure air intake/exhaust are not blocked.
- The tip-over protection system may have activated. Ensure the heater is upright on a stable surface.
- Reduced heat output:
- Ensure the air intake and exhaust grilles are clean and free of dust or obstructions.
- Verify the heater is set to the desired heat mode (750W or 1500W).
