Setup Instructions

  1. Prepare the Outlet: Ensure you have a dedicated NEMA 14-50 socket installed by a qualified electrician. Verify the outlet is in good condition and properly grounded.
  2. Mount the Charger (Optional): Use the provided hook and holster dock to mount the charger control box on a wall near your NEMA 14-50 outlet. This helps keep the charging area organized and secure.
  3. Plug in the Charger: Insert the NEMA 14-50P plug firmly into the NEMA 14-50 wall socket. The charger's LCD display should illuminate, indicating it is powered on.
  4. Initial Check: Observe the LCD display for any error messages. If a "ground fault" or other error is displayed, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Operating Instructions

Using your EP Level 2 Portable EV Charger is straightforward. Follow these steps for optimal charging.

1. Connecting to Your Vehicle:

  1. Ensure the charger is plugged into the NEMA 14-50 outlet.
  2. Open your vehicle's charging port.
  3. Firmly insert the SAE J1772 connector into your vehicle's charging port. You should hear a click indicating it's securely latched.
  4. The charger's LCD display will show charging status, including current, voltage, and charging time. The green "CHARGING" indicator lights will illuminate.

2. Adjusting Current Settings:

The charger allows you to adjust the charging current (16A/32A/40A) to match your electrical circuit's capacity or your vehicle's charging needs.

3. Setting a Charging Schedule (Delay Charging):

You can set a delayed charging time (1-10 hours) to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates.

4. Disconnecting After Charging:

  1. Once charging is complete, or you wish to stop, first disconnect the SAE J1772 connector from your vehicle's charging port.
  2. Then, unplug the NEMA 14-50P plug from the wall socket.
  3. Store the cable and connector neatly using the provided cable organizer and holster dock to prevent damage.
