Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your EP Level 2 Portable EV Charger, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Charger not powering on / LCD display is blank. | No power from the NEMA 14-50 outlet, or charger is not fully plugged in. | Ensure the NEMA 14-50 plug is fully inserted into the wall socket. Check the circuit breaker for the outlet. Test the outlet with another device if possible. |
| "Ground Fault" error displayed. | Issue with the electrical grounding of the NEMA 14-50 outlet. | Immediately unplug the charger. Have a qualified electrician inspect the NEMA 14-50 outlet wiring to ensure proper grounding. Do not use the charger until the issue is resolved. |
| Charging not starting after connecting to vehicle. | Vehicle not ready to charge, charging port not fully engaged, or delayed charging set. | Ensure your vehicle is ready to accept a charge. Re-insert the J1772 connector firmly into the vehicle's port. Check the charger's display for a set delay time and wait for it to expire, or cancel the delay. |
| Charger stops charging unexpectedly. | Overheating, overcurrent, or other safety protection activated. | Check the charger's display for error codes. Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger. Reduce the charging current setting if the issue persists. If the problem continues, contact customer support. |
| LCD display shows incorrect readings (e.g., temperature). | Minor sensor discrepancy or environmental factors. | While minor variations can occur, if readings are consistently and significantly off, or if the charger is not performing as expected, contact customer support. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact EP customer support for further assistance.
