1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Dyna-Glo Grab N Go XL Portable Propane Heater. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your heater. Please read this manual thoroughly before attempting to assemble, operate, or service this product. The Dyna-Glo Grab N Go XL is designed to provide portable heat, suitable for outdoor use and emergency indoor situations with proper ventilation. It offers versatile fuel options, accommodating both 1 lb disposable propane cylinders and, with an optional hose, a 20 lb refillable propane tank.

2. Important Safety Information

WARNING: CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARD

• This heater can produce carbon monoxide, which has no odor.
• Using it in an enclosed space can kill you.
• Never use this heater in an unventilated space such as a camper, tent, car, or home.

GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS:

• Read all instructions before using this heater.
• Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.
• An LP-cylinder not connected for use shall not be stored in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.
• Always ensure adequate ventilation when operating the heater, especially indoors during emergency situations.
• Keep children and pets away from the heater.
• Maintain proper clearances from combustible materials (e.g., walls, furniture, fabrics). Refer to the specifications section for exact clearances.
• Do not operate the heater if any part has been submerged in water.
• Do not operate the heater if it has been dropped or damaged in any way.
• Always turn off the heater and disconnect the propane supply when not in use or before performing maintenance.

3. Product Components

The Dyna-Glo Grab N Go XL Portable Propane Heater consists of the following main components:

4. Setup and Fuel Connection

4.1 Unpacking and Inspection

1. Carefully remove the heater from its packaging.
2. Inspect the heater for any shipping damage. Do not operate if damaged.
3. Ensure all components listed in Section 3 are present.

4.2 Connecting 1 lb Propane Cylinders

The heater is designed to use one or two 1 lb disposable propane cylinders (not included).

1. Ensure the heater's control knob is in the "OFF" position.
2. Open the side access panels on the heater.
3. Screw the 1 lb propane cylinder(s) clockwise into the valve(s) until hand-tight. Do not overtighten.
4. Check for gas leaks using a soapy water solution. Apply to connections; bubbles indicate a leak. Do not use the heater if a leak is detected.
5. Close the side access panels.

4.3 Connecting to a 20 lb Propane Tank (Optional)

For extended use outdoors, the heater can be connected to a 20 lb refillable propane tank using an optional extension hose (sold separately).

1. Ensure the heater's control knob is in the "OFF" position and any 1 lb cylinders are removed.
2. Connect one end of the extension hose to the heater's designated port.
3. Connect the other end of the hose to the 20 lb propane tank.
4. Ensure all connections are tight. Check for leaks using soapy water.
5. Place the 20 lb tank on a stable, level surface, away from the heater and any heat sources.

4.4 Placement Considerations

• Place the heater on a firm, level surface.
• Ensure adequate clearance from combustible materials. Refer to Section 7 (Specifications) for minimum clearances.
• For indoor emergency use, ensure significant ventilation is present (e.g., open windows/doors). Never use in unventilated areas.
• Do not block the air intake or exhaust vents.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Ignition Procedure (Piezo Ignition)

1. Ensure propane cylinders/tank are connected and the gas supply is open.
2. Turn the control knob counter-clockwise to the desired heat setting (Low, Medium, or High). The heater features continuously variable heat settings.
3. Press and hold the Piezo Igniter button repeatedly until the burner ignites. You should hear a clicking sound and see the burner glow.
4. Once ignited, continue to hold the control knob in for 20-30 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat up and engage the safety valve.
5. Release the control knob. The heater should remain lit. If it extinguishes, repeat steps 2-4.

5.2 Adjusting Heat Settings

The Dyna-Glo Grab N Go XL offers 3 heat settings: Low, Medium, and High, providing up to 18,000 BTUs per hour. Rotate the control knob to select the desired heat output. The heat output is continuously variable between these settings.

5.3 Shutting Down the Heater

1. Turn the control knob clockwise to the "OFF" position.
2. Close the valve on the propane cylinder(s) or tank.
3. Allow the heater to cool completely before moving or storing.

6. Maintenance and Storage

6.1 Cleaning

• Ensure the heater is off, cool, and disconnected from the propane supply before cleaning.
• Wipe the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Keep the burner area and air vents free of dust and debris. Use compressed air if necessary.
• Do not clean the ceramic burner tile directly.

6.2 Leak Checks

Perform a leak check at the beginning of each heating season and every time a propane cylinder or tank is connected. Use a soapy water solution on all gas connections. Bubbles indicate a leak. Do not operate the heater if a leak is detected; tighten connections or replace faulty parts.

6.3 Storage

• Disconnect and remove all propane cylinders/tanks.
• Store the heater in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
• Do not store propane cylinders indoors or in any enclosed space.
