6. Operating Instructions

The RL-HV2S offers multiple operating modes for various leveling and grading tasks.

6.1. Power On/Off and Self-Leveling

  1. Press the green power button to turn the unit on.
  2. The unit will automatically begin self-leveling. Wait for the laser beam to stabilize.
  3. If the unit is outside its self-leveling range, an alarm may sound, and the laser will stop rotating. Adjust the unit's position until it can self-level.
  4. Press the green power button again to turn the unit off.

6.2. Horizontal Applications

For horizontal leveling, place the unit on a stable surface or tripod. The laser will project a 360-degree horizontal plane.

6.3. Vertical Applications

For vertical alignment, place the unit on its side. The laser will project a vertical plane. Use the LS-80X receiver to detect the vertical line.

6.4. Single and Dual Slope Applications

The RL-HV2S allows for setting slopes up to ±5% in the X and Y axes.

  1. Press the 'MENU' button to access slope settings.
  2. Use the arrow buttons to select the X or Y axis for slope adjustment.
  3. Adjust the slope percentage using the '+' and '-' buttons. The display will show the current slope.
  4. Press 'ENT' to confirm the setting.

6.5. Using the LS-80X Receiver

The LS-80X receiver extends the working range and improves accuracy, especially outdoors or in bright conditions.

  1. Attach the LS-80X to a grade rod using the holder.
  2. Turn on the receiver.
  3. Move the receiver up or down the grade rod until the center indicator is displayed, indicating the laser plane.
  4. The receiver provides audible tones to assist in finding the beam center.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

  • Wipe the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Keep the laser emission window clean and free of dust or debris.

7.2. Storage

  • Store the RL-HV2S in its protective carrying case when not in use.
  • Store in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for extended periods, remove the battery pack.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Laser not turning on: Check battery charge and ensure it is correctly installed.
  • Laser not self-leveling: Ensure the unit is placed on a relatively level surface. If the tilt is too great, adjust its position.
  • Laser beam not visible: Ensure the unit is powered on. In bright conditions or over long distances, use the LS-80X receiver.
  • Inaccurate readings: Verify the unit is properly calibrated. Refer to the full service manual for calibration procedures or contact support.
