  1. Prepare the Sink/Bidet: Ensure the drain opening in your sink or bidet is clean and free from any old sealant or debris.
  2. Position the Upper Gasket: Place one of the sealing gaskets onto the upper part of the drain valve, ensuring it sits flush against the underside of the valve's flange.
  3. Insert the Valve: Insert the drain valve assembly through the drain opening from the top of the sink/bidet.
  4. Position the Lower Gasket: From underneath the sink/bidet, slide the second sealing gasket onto the threaded tailpiece of the drain valve, against the underside of the sink/bidet.
  5. Secure with Locking Nut: Thread the locking nut onto the tailpiece and hand-tighten it. Use a wrench to gently tighten the nut further, ensuring a watertight seal. Do not overtighten.
  6. Connect to P-Trap: Connect the 1 1/4 inch threaded tailpiece of the drain valve to your existing P-trap or waste pipe assembly. Ensure all connections are secure and watertight.
  7. Test for Leaks: Turn on the water supply and fill the sink/bidet. Check carefully for any leaks around the drain valve and its connections. Tighten any leaking connections slightly if necessary.

5. Operating Instructions

The IMEX VCC001 drain valve features a simple click-clack mechanism for opening and closing the drain:

  • To Close the Drain: Press down firmly on the top cap of the drain valve until you hear a 'click'. The valve will seal, allowing the basin to fill with water.
  • To Open the Drain: Press down firmly on the top cap again until you hear a 'click'. The valve will open, allowing water to drain from the basin.

6. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal appearance of your IMEX VCC001 drain valve. Avoid abrasive cleaners or tools that can damage the chrome finish.

  1. Daily Cleaning: For routine cleaning, use a soft cotton cloth. Lightly dampen the cloth if necessary. Gently wipe the surface of the drain valve to remove most dirt and water spots without damaging the material. Do not use abrasive sponges or brushes.
  2. Limescale Removal: Limescale residues often accumulate in corners and joints. Use a mild cleaner based on citric acid. Do not spray the concentrated cleaner directly onto the faucet or drain valve. Instead, apply it to a soft cloth and then wipe the affected areas.
  3. Aerator/Pop-Up Cleaning: The pop-up mechanism can be easily removed for thorough cleaning. Immerse it in warm water with a small amount of mild cleaner. Limescale deposits will dissolve after approximately ten minutes.
  4. Rinse Thoroughly: After cleaning, rinse the drain valve thoroughly with clean water to remove any cleaning product residues.
  5. Final Polish: Repeat the first step by wiping the drain valve with a soft, dry cotton cloth to completely remove any remaining cleaning product residues and restore a brilliant finish to the surface.
  6. Additional Tip: Clean the sink/bidet basin and the drain valve simultaneously for a consistently sparkling appearance.

Note on Cleaners: We recommend using a mild, citric acid-based cleaning product. Stronger, commonly used cleaning concentrates can irritate hands and eyes, cause allergies, and redden sensitive skin. Similarly, harsh cleaners can damage the material and finish of the drain valve over time.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your drain valve.

  • Leakage around the drain:
    • Ensure the sealing gaskets are correctly positioned and not damaged.
    • Check that the locking nut is tightened sufficiently, but not overtightened.
    • Apply plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the top flange of the drain valve before installation if leaks persist (ensure it is suitable for plumbing applications).
  • Drain valve not opening/closing properly (stuck):
    • Mineral deposits or debris might be interfering with the click-clack mechanism. Follow the maintenance steps to clean the pop-up mechanism.
    • Ensure the pop-up cap is correctly seated and not misaligned.
  • Slow draining:
    • The pop-up mechanism might be partially obstructed by hair or debris. Remove and clean it as described in the maintenance section.
    • Check the P-trap for blockages.
