3. Operating Instructions

The ANENG AN9002 offers a wide range of measurement functions. Always ensure the correct function is selected and test leads are properly connected before taking measurements.

3.1 Basic Measurements

  • AC/DC Voltage Measurement: Rotate the dial to the 'V' position. The multimeter will automatically detect AC or DC voltage. Connect the red test lead to the 'VΩHz' input and the black test lead to the 'COM' input. Apply probes to the circuit.

  • AC/DC Current Measurement: Rotate the dial to the 'A' (Amperes) or 'mA/μA' (milliamperes/microamperes) position. Connect the red test lead to the appropriate current input ('10A' for high current, '600mA Max' for low current) and the black test lead to 'COM'. Connect the multimeter in series with the circuit.
  • Resistance Measurement: Rotate the dial to the 'Ω' (Ohms) position. Connect the red test lead to 'VΩHz' and the black test lead to 'COM'. Apply probes across the component to measure resistance.
  • Continuity Test: Rotate the dial to the continuity symbol (speaker icon). Connect the red test lead to 'VΩHz' and the black test lead to 'COM'. If the circuit is continuous, the multimeter will emit an audible beep.
  • Capacitance Measurement: Rotate the dial to the 'F' (Farad) position. Connect the red test lead to 'VΩHz' and the black test lead to 'COM'. Connect probes across the capacitor.

  • Diode Test: Rotate the dial to the diode symbol. Connect the red test lead to 'VΩHz' and the black test lead to 'COM'. Place the red probe on the anode and the black probe on the cathode of the diode.
  • Temperature Measurement: Use the included temperature probe. Connect it to the appropriate inputs (usually 'VΩHz' and 'COM' or dedicated temperature inputs if available). Rotate the dial to the temperature symbol (°C/°F).

3.2 Advanced Features

  • Auto-Ranging: The multimeter automatically selects the appropriate measurement range, simplifying operation.
  • True RMS: Provides accurate readings for non-sinusoidal AC waveforms.
  • Data Hold (HOLD): Press the 'HOLD' button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
  • MAX/MIN: Press the 'MAX/MIN' button to display the maximum or minimum measured value during a measurement session.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

Wipe the multimeter's casing with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is dry before use or storage.

4.2 Battery Replacement

Refer to section 2.2 for detailed instructions on battery replacement. Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears on the display.

4.3 Fuse Replacement

The ANENG AN9002 is equipped with double fuse protection. If the multimeter fails to measure current, the fuse may need replacement. This procedure should only be performed by qualified personnel.

  1. Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF and all test leads are disconnected.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover as described in section 2.2.
  3. Carefully remove the circuit board to access the fuses.
  4. Replace the blown fuse(s) with fuses of the same type and rating (e.g., Fused 10A Max, Fused 600mA Max).
  5. Reassemble the multimeter, ensuring all components are securely in place.

4.4 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the multimeter in its provided storage bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
