2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

  • Always wear a helmet that fits properly and is securely fastened. A helmet that is too loose may come off in an accident.
  • Never modify your helmet. Modifications can compromise the helmet's protective capabilities.
  • Do not expose your helmet to petroleum products, cleaning agents, paints, or adhesives, as these can damage the shell and liner materials.
  • If the helmet sustains an impact, even if there is no visible damage, it should be replaced. The protective capacity may be compromised.
  • Ensure the visor is clean and free from obstructions for clear vision.
  • This helmet is DOT FMVSS 218 certified, indicating it has been tested for energy absorption, penetration resistance, and chin strap security.

4. Setup and Fitting

4.1 Helmet Sizing and Fit

A properly fitting helmet is crucial for safety. The helmet should fit snugly around your head without causing pressure points. To check the fit:

  1. Place the helmet on your head. It should feel snug around the crown and cheeks.
  2. Fasten the D-ring retention strap securely under your chin.
  3. With the strap fastened, try to move the helmet from side to side and up and down. Your skin should move with the helmet, and it should not slide independently.
  4. Ensure there are no excessive pressure points that could cause discomfort during extended wear.

4.2 Adjusting the D-Ring Retention Strap

The D-ring system provides a secure and adjustable fit. To fasten:

  1. Thread the strap through both D-rings.
  2. Loop the strap back through only the first D-ring.
  3. Pull the strap tight until it is snug against your throat, ensuring the helmet cannot be rolled off your head.
  4. Secure the loose end of the strap with the snap fastener to prevent flapping.

4.3 Installing Breath Deflector and Chin Curtain

The included breath deflector and chin curtain can be installed to enhance comfort and reduce fogging. Refer to the specific attachment points inside the helmet for proper installation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Visor (HJ-32 Shield) Operation

The clear HJ-32 shield can be opened and closed using the tab located at the bottom center. It features a ratchet system allowing it to be held in various open positions. The shield provides 95% UV protection and is prepared for an anti-fog lens pin (sold separately).

5.2 Integrated SunShield (HJ-V9) Operation

The internal dark smoke sunshield can be deployed or retracted using the lever located on the side of the helmet. This sunshield is anti-fog coated and designed for quick and easy operation.

5.3 Ventilation System (ACS)

The "ACS" Advanced Channeling Ventilation System features adjustable vents on the front and top of the helmet. Open these vents to allow airflow to flush heat and humidity out. Close them to reduce airflow, for example, in colder conditions.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Exterior Shell

Clean the helmet shell with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish and materials.

6.2 Cleaning the Visor and SunShield

Clean the HJ-32 shield and HJ-V9 sunshield with warm water and a soft cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a helmet-specific visor cleaner. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals. Allow to air dry.

6.3 Cleaning the Interior Liners

The MultiCool cheek pads and SuperCool comfort liner are removable and washable. Hand wash them in cold water with mild soap. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before reinstallation. Ensure all components are dry to prevent mildew.

6.4 Storage

Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a helmet bag to protect it from scratches and dust.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Visor Fogging: Ensure ventilation vents are open. Consider installing an anti-fog lens pin (Pinlock, sold separately) on the HJ-32 shield. Ensure the breath deflector is properly installed.
  • Excessive Noise: Ensure all vents are closed if noise is an issue. Check that the visor is fully closed and sealed. A proper fit is essential to minimize wind noise.
  • Discomfort/Pressure Points: Ensure the helmet size is correct. The interior liners will break in over time, but persistent discomfort may indicate an incorrect size or head shape match.
  • SunShield Malfunction: Check for any obstructions around the sunshield mechanism. Ensure the lever operates smoothly. Do not force the sunshield.
