The Stagg ECL 4/4 BK US electric cello features a minimalist design with a black finish. It includes detachable support arms for comfortable playing and an adjustable endpin. The instrument is equipped with an under-saddle transducer and an equalizer for sound control.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the cello and its accessories from the gigbag. Ensure all components are present: the electric cello, detachable support arms, and the gigbag itself. Note that a bow and external stickers for learning purposes are not included and must be acquired separately.

3.2 Attaching Support Arms

Locate the two detachable support arms. These arms slide into designated slots on the side of the cello body. Gently push them in until they are securely seated. These provide stability and comfort during play, mimicking the feel of a traditional cello.

3.3 Battery Installation

The electric cello requires a 9V battery for its active electronics. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the instrument. Open the compartment, insert a fresh 9V battery, and close the cover securely. A low battery indicator light is present on the control panel.

3.4 Stringing and Tuning

The cello comes pre-strung with alloy steel strings. Ensure the bridge is correctly positioned. For optimal sound, it is recommended to replace the factory strings with a set of very good quality strings. The instrument supports the addition of fine tuners at the tailpiece for precise tuning. Tune the cello using standard cello tuning (C-G-D-A).

4. Operating the Cello

4.1 Controls and Connections

The Stagg electric cello features an equalizer with volume and bass controls. These knobs allow you to shape your sound. The instrument also includes multiple input/output options:

• 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo mini jack input: For connecting an external audio source like a CD or MP3 player, allowing you to play along with backing tracks.
• 3.5 mm (1/8") output mini jack: For connecting headphones for silent practice.
• 6.35 mm (1/4") output jack: For connecting to an amplifier or sound system for amplified performance.

4.2 Playing the Cello

Once set up and tuned, the electric cello can be played like a traditional cello. Use a good quality bow (not included) for optimal sound production. Experiment with the volume and bass controls to find your desired tone. For silent practice, connect headphones to the dedicated output jack.
