1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before using this appliance and retain for future reference. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
  • This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces.
  • Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
  • Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations. Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
  • Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
  • To disconnect heater, turn controls to OFF, then remove plug from outlet.
  • Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  • A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  • Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • This heater includes an automatic overheat protection system that shuts the unit off when parts of the heater get excessively hot. If the unit shuts off, unplug it and wait 30 minutes for it to cool down before restarting.
  • The heater is equipped with a tip-over safety switch. If the heater is accidentally tipped over, it will automatically shut off. Place the heater on a firm, level surface to ensure proper operation.

3. Setup

Setting up your Midea fan heater is straightforward. Follow these steps to ensure safe and effective operation.

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the heater from its packaging. Retain packaging for storage or future transport.
  2. Placement: Place the heater on a firm, level, and stable surface. Ensure it is at least 1 meter (3 feet) away from walls, furniture, curtains, and other flammable materials. Do not place it on soft surfaces like carpets or rugs that might block the air intake.
  3. Power Connection: Ensure the heater is turned OFF (both knobs set to OFF/Min). Plug the power cord directly into a standard 240V AC wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.
  4. Initial Use: For the first few minutes of initial use, you may notice a slight odor. This is normal and will quickly disappear.

4. Operating Instructions

The Midea NF20-20AWE features two control knobs for easy operation.

Control Knobs:

  • Left Knob (Thermostat Control): This knob controls the desired temperature. Turn it clockwise from MIN to MAX to increase the target temperature. The heater will cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature.
  • Right Knob (Mode Selector): This knob selects the operating mode.
    • OFF: Turns the heater off.
    • FAN: Activates the fan-only mode, providing natural air circulation without heat.
    • LOW HEAT (1200W): Provides a gentle warm breeze at 1200 Watts.
    • HIGH HEAT (2000W): Provides powerful warm air at 2000 Watts for rapid heating.

Operating the Heater:

  1. Plug the heater into a suitable electrical outlet.
  2. Turn the Right Knob (Mode Selector) to your desired heat setting (LOW HEAT or HIGH HEAT) or to FAN for cooling.
  3. Turn the Left Knob (Thermostat Control) clockwise to the MAX position. Once the room reaches a comfortable temperature, slowly turn the thermostat knob counter-clockwise until the heater turns off. The heater will now maintain this temperature by cycling on and off.
  4. To turn off the heater, turn the Right Knob (Mode Selector) to the OFF position. Unplug the heater from the wall outlet when not in use.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and efficient operation of your Midea fan heater.

  • Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the heater from the power outlet and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.
    • Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces of the heater. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
    • Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust from the air intake and exhaust grilles.
    • Never immerse the heater in water or any other liquid.
  • Storage:
    • When not in use, store the heater in a cool, dry place.
    • It is recommended to store the heater in its original packaging to protect it from dust and damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Midea fan heater, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

  • Overheat protection activated.
  • Tip-over switch activated.
  • Unplug the heater, wait 30 minutes for it to cool down, then plug it back in. Ensure air intakes are not blocked.
  • Place the heater on a firm, level surface.
Unusual odor during operation.
  • New unit odor.
  • Dust accumulation.
  • This is normal for initial use and will dissipate.
  • Clean the air intakes and exhaust grilles as per maintenance instructions.
