1. Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your MEBUS Model 40690 Wireless Weather Station. This device offers accurate indoor and outdoor temperature readings, indoor humidity levels, a weather forecast, a radio-controlled clock, and an alarm function. Understanding your indoor and outdoor climate can contribute to comfort and energy efficiency.

2. Product Overview
The MEBUS Model 40690 Wireless Weather Station consists of two main components:
- Main Unit: Displays time, date, indoor/outdoor temperature, indoor humidity, weather forecast, and comfort indicator.
- Outdoor Sensor: Transmits outdoor temperature data wirelessly to the main unit.
Key features include:
- Radio-controlled time (DCF77) with automatic summer/winter time adjustment.
- Digital indoor and outdoor thermometer (display in °C or °F).
- Digital indoor hygrometer (humidity percentage).
- Weather forecast display with symbols.
- Comfort indicator (smiley icon) for indoor climate.
- Alarm function with adjustable snooze (1-20 minutes).
- Backlight for easy reading in low light conditions.
- Integrated calendar displaying day of the week in 7 languages.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The weather station and outdoor sensor are battery-powered, allowing for flexible placement. Batteries are not included.
- Open the battery compartment on the back of the main unit.
- Insert 4x AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment.
- Repeat steps 1-3 for the outdoor sensor.
Note: Ensure fresh batteries are used for optimal performance. High battery consumption may require replacement approximately every 6 months.
3.2 Initial Synchronization
After battery installation, the main unit will automatically attempt to synchronize with the outdoor sensor and receive the DCF77 radio signal for time setting.
- Place the outdoor sensor within range of the main unit (ensure no major obstructions).
- The main unit will display outdoor temperature once synchronized. If synchronization fails, reposition the outdoor sensor or restart both devices by removing and reinserting batteries.
- The radio-controlled time signal (DCF77) will automatically set the correct time, including summer and winter time adjustments. This process may take several minutes.
3.3 Manual Time Setting
If the radio signal is unavailable (e.g., in areas with poor reception), the time can be set manually.
- Refer to the detailed instructions in the operating section for manual time and date adjustments.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Display Features
The clear display shows various information at a glance:
- Outdoor Temperature: Located in the upper-left section.
- Indoor Temperature & Humidity: Located in the lower-left section.
- Weather Forecast: Symbols in the upper-middle section.
- Time: Large display in the upper-right section.
- Date & Day of Week: Below the time display.
- Comfort Indicator: Smiley icon below the weather forecast.

4.2 Time and Date Settings
The station automatically sets the time via the DCF77 radio signal. If manual adjustment is needed:
- Press and hold the MODE button to enter time setting mode.
- Use the UP or DOWN buttons to adjust the flashing value (e.g., hour, minute).
- Press MODE again to confirm and move to the next setting.
- Settings include 12/24-hour format, time zone, year, month, date, and day of the week language (7 options).
- Press MODE one last time to exit setting mode.
4.3 Alarm Function
To set the alarm:
- Press MODE once to display the alarm time.
- Press and hold MODE to enter alarm setting mode.
- Use UP or DOWN to adjust the hour and minute.
- Press MODE to confirm each setting.
- To activate/deactivate the alarm, press the UP button while the alarm time is displayed. An alarm icon will appear/disappear.
Snooze Function: When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button on top to temporarily silence it. The alarm will sound again after the set snooze interval (adjustable between 1 and 20 minutes).
4.4 Backlight
To activate the display backlight:
- Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button on the top of the main unit.
- The display will illuminate with a blue light, designed to be gentle on the eyes at night.

4.5 Comfort Indicator
The comfort indicator, represented by a smiley icon, assesses the perceived humidity level in the room. It provides a visual cue for an optimal indoor climate.
- A happy face indicates ideal indoor temperature and humidity levels (typically 20-28°C and 40-70% humidity).
- Other icons may indicate dry or wet conditions, prompting adjustments for a healthier environment.

4.6 Weather Forecast
The weather station provides a visual weather forecast based on measured values. This is displayed using symbols in the upper-middle section of the screen.
- Symbols typically include sun, clouds, rain, etc., indicating general weather trends.
- This forecast is based on atmospheric pressure changes detected by the unit and serves as an indication, not a substitute for professional weather reports.

4.7 Temperature and Humidity Display
- Indoor Temperature: Displays the current temperature inside the room.
- Outdoor Temperature: Displays the current temperature transmitted from the outdoor sensor.
- Indoor Humidity: Shows the percentage of humidity indoors.
- Temperature can be switched between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) using a dedicated button (often located in the battery compartment or a small button on the back).

5. Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: Replace all 4x AAA batteries in both the main unit and the outdoor sensor when the display dims or performance degrades. It is recommended to replace batteries in both units simultaneously for optimal synchronization.
- Cleaning: Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Placement: Ensure the outdoor sensor is protected from direct rain and sunlight for accurate readings and extended lifespan.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Outdoor Temperature Reading:
- Check batteries in the outdoor sensor.
- Ensure the outdoor sensor is within range and not obstructed by thick walls or electronic interference.
- Try re-synchronizing by removing and reinserting batteries in both units. - Incorrect Time Display:
- Ensure the unit is in an area with good DCF77 radio signal reception.
- If no signal is available, set the time manually as described in section 4.2. - Display Difficult to Read:
- Activate the backlight by pressing the SNOOZE/LIGHT button.
- Ensure the unit is viewed from an appropriate angle. - Inaccurate Temperature/Humidity Readings:
- Ensure the outdoor sensor is not in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
- Ensure the main unit is not near heat sources or in direct drafts. - High Battery Consumption:
- This model may exhibit higher battery consumption. Regular battery replacement (e.g., every 6 months) is expected.
