4. Setup and Installation

1. Placement: Position the sand filter pump on a firm, level surface near your above-ground pool. Ensure it is easily accessible for maintenance and protected from direct weather exposure if possible.
2. Adding Filter Media: Carefully add the recommended amount of filter sand (42 lbs) or filter balls into the tank. Ensure the standpipe is centered during this process to prevent sand from entering it.
3. Connecting Hoses: Connect the pool's skimmer/intake hose to the pump's inlet and the pump's outlet to the filter tank's inlet. Connect the filter tank's return outlet to the pool's return jet. Secure all connections with clamps to prevent leaks. The system includes 1.25"/1.5" NPSM threaded connections.

5.1 Multi-Port Valve Settings

The 4-way valve allows you to select different operational modes. Always turn off the pump before changing the valve position.

• FILTER: This is the standard operating mode for daily filtration. Water is pumped through the sand bed, filtered, and returned to the pool.
• BACKWASH: Used to clean the filter media. Water flow is reversed, flushing accumulated debris out through the waste port.
• RINSE: Used after backwashing to flush any remaining debris from the filter lines before returning to FILTER mode.
• WASTE: Drains water directly from the pool, bypassing the filter. Useful for lowering pool water level or vacuuming heavy debris directly to waste.
• RE-CIRCULATE: Circulates pool water without passing it through the filter. Useful for distributing chemicals without filtering.
• CLOSED: Stops water flow completely. Use this setting when performing maintenance on the pump or filter.
• WINTER: Prepares the system for winter storage.

5.2 Digital Timer Function

6. Maintenance

6.1 Backwashing the Filter

2. Set the multi-port valve to 'BACKWASH'.
3. Turn on the pump and run until the water flowing out of the waste port is clear (typically 2-3 minutes).
4. Turn off the pump.
5. Set the multi-port valve to 'RINSE'.
6. Turn on the pump and run for 30-60 seconds.
7. Turn off the pump.
8. Set the multi-port valve back to 'FILTER'.
9. Turn on the pump to resume normal filtration.

6.2 Cleaning the Pump Basket
