4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, discard used coffee grounds. Wash the permanent filter, glass carafe, and travel tumbler in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. The manufacturer states that the coffee maker is not dishwasher safe.
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
4.2 Descaling
Mineral deposits from water can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker regularly (e.g., every 2-3 months, or more often if you have hard water).
- Fill the water reservoir with a solution of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
- Place the empty glass carafe on the adjustable base.
- Run a full brewing cycle without coffee grounds.
- After the cycle, discard the vinegar solution.
- Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, cold water to rinse the system thoroughly.
5. Troubleshooting
- Coffee Not Brewing: Ensure the coffee maker is plugged in, the Master On/Off button is pressed, and the water reservoir contains sufficient water. Check that the brew basket and carafe are correctly positioned.
- Coffee Leaking: Verify that the carafe or mug is properly seated on the adjustable base and that the brew basket is correctly installed. Ensure the water reservoir lid is closed.
- Coffee Not Hot Enough: Ensure the brewing cycle completes fully. For optimal heat retention, pre-warm your mug or tumbler with hot water before brewing. The double-walled travel tumbler is designed to keep coffee hot for longer.
- Overflow of Grounds: Ensure you are not overfilling the permanent filter with coffee grounds. Use the recommended amount for your desired strength.
