Product Components
The CROSSON 6L Electric Countertop Deep Fryer is constructed from durable stainless steel and features several key components for efficient operation and easy maintenance.

Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
- Basket Assembly: Attach the handle to the frying basket using the provided wingscrews. Ensure it is securely fastened.
- Placement: Place the deep fryer on a stable, heat-resistant, and level surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
- Power Connection: Ensure the power switch is in the 'OFF' position before plugging the unit into a grounded 120V, 1800W electrical outlet.
- Oil Filling: Fill the oil tank with cooking oil. The recommended maximum oil capacity is 6 liters (13 lbs). Do not exceed the 'MAX' fill line or go below the 'MIN' fill line.
Basket Assembly Demonstration
This video demonstrates the simple process of assembling the frying basket with the handle using wingscrews, and how to properly install and remove the basket from the deep fryer.
Operating Instructions
- Preheating: Turn the temperature control dial to your desired frying temperature (e.g., 350°F for most items). The orange 'HEATING' indicator light will illuminate.
- Temperature Ready: Once the oil reaches the set temperature, the orange 'HEATING' light will turn off, and the green 'POWER' light will remain on. The fryer is now ready for use.
- Frying: Carefully lower the food in the basket into the hot oil. Do not overload the basket, as this can lower oil temperature and result in soggy food.
- Timer: Use the 60-minute timer dial to set the desired cooking time. An audible sound will indicate when the time is complete.
- Draining: Once food is cooked, lift the basket and hang it on the drainage rod to allow excess oil to drip back into the tank.
- Serving: Carefully remove the food from the basket and serve.
Frying Demonstration
This video illustrates the process of filling the fryer with oil, setting the temperature, frying various items like onion rings, chicken nuggets, and french fries, and utilizing the basket's drainage feature.

Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your deep fryer and ensure food safety.
- Cool Down: Always allow the oil and fryer to cool completely before cleaning.
- Oil Drainage: Rotate the copper drain tap counter-clockwise to release used oil into a suitable container. Rotate clockwise to close.
- Heating Element Removal: Lift the fryer head (heating element assembly) using the cool-touch handle. This allows for easy access to the oil tank for cleaning.
- Tank Cleaning: Remove the oil tank. Wash the tank, basket, and heating element (avoiding electrical components) with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the fryer with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the main unit in water.
- Reassembly: Reassemble all components, ensuring the heating element is correctly seated to engage the safety micro switch.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Fryer does not heat up. | Not plugged in; power switch off; heating element not properly seated (safety micro switch not engaged); thermostat set too low; thermal overload tripped. | Check power connection and switch. Ensure heating element is fully inserted and locked. Adjust thermostat. If thermal overload tripped, press the reset button usually located on the back or side of the control panel. |
| Oil is leaking from the drain valve. | Drain valve not fully closed; valve seal damaged or dirty. | Ensure the drain valve is rotated clockwise until fully closed. If leaking persists, inspect the valve for debris or damage to the seal. Clean or replace as necessary. |
| Food is not cooking evenly or is soggy. | Oil temperature too low; basket overloaded; insufficient preheating time. | Ensure the oil is fully preheated to the correct temperature. Do not overload the basket; fry in smaller batches. Allow adequate time for oil to reheat between batches. |
| Heating indicator light cycles on/off frequently. | Normal operation of the thermostat. | This is normal as the thermostat maintains the set temperature. No action required. |
