3. Device Layout and Controls

  • ON/OFF Button: Powers the device on or off.
  • HOLD Button: Freezes the current temperature reading on the display.
  • °C/°F Button: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
  • MAX/MIN/AVG Button: Cycles through maximum, minimum, and average temperature readings.
  • TYPE Button: Selects the thermocouple type (K, J, T, E, N, S, R).
  • T1/T2 or T1-T2 Button: Switches between displaying T1, T2, or the temperature difference (T1-T2).
  • LCD Display: Shows temperature readings, selected units, and other indicators.
  • Thermocouple Input Ports: Connect K-Type or other compatible thermocouples.

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert three (3) 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2. Thermocouple Connection

  1. Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on the thermocouple plug.
  2. Match the positive (+) terminal of the thermocouple plug to the positive (+) input port on the thermometer.
  3. Match the negative (-) terminal of the thermocouple plug to the negative (-) input port on the thermometer.
  4. Gently push the thermocouple plug into the corresponding input port until it is firmly seated.
  5. Repeat for the second thermocouple if dual-channel measurement is desired.

Important: Ensure the correct polarity when connecting thermocouples to prevent inaccurate readings or damage to the device.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off

  • Press the ON/OFF button to turn the thermometer on.
  • Press and hold the ON/OFF button for approximately 2 seconds to turn the thermometer off.
  • The device will automatically power off after 8 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

5.2. Selecting Temperature Unit (°C/°F)

  • Press the °C/°F button to switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) display modes.

5.3. Data Hold Function

  • Press the HOLD button to freeze the current temperature reading on the display.
  • Press the HOLD button again to release the hold and resume live readings.

5.4. MAX/MIN/AVG Readings

  • Press the MAX/MIN/AVG button repeatedly to cycle through the maximum, minimum, and average temperature values recorded since the device was powered on or the function was reset.

5.5. Thermocouple Type Selection

The thermometer supports K, J, T, E, N, S, and R type thermocouples. Ensure the selected type matches the connected probe for accurate measurements.

  • Press the TYPE button to cycle through the available thermocouple types.
  • The selected type will be indicated on the LCD display.

5.6. Dual Channel Display (T1, T2, T1-T2)

When two thermocouples are connected, the device can display individual readings or their difference.

  • Press the T1/T2 or T1-T2 button to switch between:
    • Displaying both T1 and T2 readings simultaneously.
    • Displaying the temperature difference between T1 and T2 (T1-T2).

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

  • Wipe the device clean with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the casing or display.

7.2. Battery Replacement

  • When the "Low battery" icon appears on the screen, replace the batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings.
  • Follow the battery installation steps outlined in Section 4.1.

7.3. Storage

  • Store the thermometer in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Storage Temperature: -10℃ to 50℃ (14℉ to 122℉).
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1. Inaccurate Readings

  • Check Thermocouple Connection: Ensure the thermocouple is correctly plugged into the device with the correct polarity (+ into +, - into -).
  • Verify Thermocouple Type: Confirm that the selected thermocouple type on the device matches the physical probe being used.
  • Inspect Probes: Check thermocouples for any visible damage or kinks in the wire. Damaged probes can lead to incorrect readings.
  • Battery Level: A low battery can affect accuracy. Replace batteries if the low battery indicator is active.

8.2. Device Not Powering On

  • Check Batteries: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and are not depleted. Replace with fresh AAA batteries if necessary.
