Operating Your Rifle Scope

Magnification Adjustment

Rotate the magnification ring (located near the eyepiece) to adjust the magnification from 6x to 24x. The SH4J features a smooth magnification ring for precise control.

Turret Adjustments (Elevation & Windage)

The elevation turret (top) and windage turret (right side) allow for precise adjustments to your point of impact. Each click provides a tactile and audible feedback, ensuring confident adjustments. The turrets offer 0.1 MRAD adjustments per click.

Parallax Adjustment

The side parallax adjustment knob (left side) allows you to eliminate parallax error at various distances. Rotate the knob until the target appears clear and the reticle is sharp. Range numbers are visible from the shooting position for quick adjustments.

Reticle Focus Adjustment

To ensure a sharp and clear reticle image, adjust the reticle/ocular focus ring located at the very rear of the scope. Look away from the scope and then quickly look back through it. Adjust until the reticle is perfectly sharp. This should be the first adjustment made when setting up the scope.

Zero Stop System (AZS)

The Arken Zero Stop (AZS) allows for a quick and reliable return to your established zero. After zeroing your rifle, loosen the set screws on the elevation turret, rotate the turret to your desired zero, and then tighten the set screws. This creates a physical stop at your zero setting.

Illuminated Reticle

The SH4J features an illuminated center dot on its reticle for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions. The illumination control knob (located on the parallax turret) offers multiple brightness settings. Rotate the knob to select your desired brightness level.

Reticle Options (VHR-MOA)

The SH4J 6-24X50 VHR-MOA model features the VHR-MOA reticle, designed for precise holdovers and windage corrections. This Christmas-tree style reticle provides accurate subtensions across the entire magnification range.

Care and Maintenance

To maintain the performance and longevity of your Arken Optics SH4J scope, regular care is essential. Use the provided microfiber cleaning cloth to gently wipe lenses free of dust and smudges. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the lens coatings.

The scope is O-ring sealed and nitrogen purged, ensuring it remains waterproof and fogproof. If the exterior becomes dirty, wipe it down with a damp cloth. Store the scope in a dry, cool place, ideally in its original packaging or a protective case, when not in use.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

If you encounter any issues with your Arken Optics SH4J scope, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

• Blurry Image: Ensure the reticle focus is properly adjusted for your eye. Also, adjust the parallax knob for the correct distance to the target.
• Tracking Problems: Verify that your scope rings are properly torqued to the recommended 15 inch/lbs. Ensure the scope is securely mounted and that the turrets are not binding.
• Reticle Illumination Not Working: Check the CR2032 battery in the illumination knob. Replace if necessary. Ensure the knob is turned to an 'on' setting and not an 'off' position between brightness levels.
• Zero Stop Malfunction: Re-read the instructions for setting the AZS Zero Stop System carefully. Ensure the set screws are properly loosened and tightened during the adjustment process.
