Important Safety Information

  • This smoke detector is designed for indoor use only.
  • Do not paint the smoke detector. Paint can clog the sensing chambers and prevent the unit from operating correctly.
  • Avoid placing the detector near bathrooms or kitchens, as steam and cooking fumes can trigger nuisance alarms.
  • Regularly test your smoke detector as described in the Operating section to ensure it is functioning correctly.
  • Never ignore a smoke alarm. Investigate the cause immediately.
  • The sealed battery is designed to last 10 years. Do not attempt to replace the battery. The entire unit must be replaced after 10 years or if a low battery signal persists.

Setup and Installation

The Fireangel AE6620-FRR smoke detector is designed for quick and easy installation on either a wall or ceiling. No complex wiring or maintenance is required.

Choosing a Location:

  • Install smoke detectors in all sleeping areas and on every level of your home.
  • For optimal detection, place the detector in the center of the ceiling. If ceiling mounting is not possible, mount it on a wall, at least 10-30 cm (4-12 inches) from the ceiling.
  • Keep detectors away from air vents, fans, and areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid placing within 1 meter (3 feet) of cooking appliances or bathrooms to prevent nuisance alarms.

Mounting Instructions:

  1. Carefully remove the mounting bracket from the back of the smoke detector by twisting it counter-clockwise.
  2. Position the mounting bracket on your chosen ceiling or wall location. Mark the positions for the screw holes.
  3. Drill pilot holes at the marked positions. Insert wall plugs if necessary.
  4. Secure the mounting bracket using the provided screws.
  5. Align the smoke detector with the mounting bracket and twist it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.
  6. Perform an initial test as described in the "Operating the Detector" section to confirm proper installation.

Operating the Detector

Testing the Detector:

It is crucial to test your smoke detector regularly, at least once a month, to ensure it is functioning correctly.

  1. Press and hold the large "TEST/X" button located on the center of the detector.
  2. A loud alarm sound (approximately 85 dB at 3 meters) will confirm that the unit is working.
  3. Release the button. The alarm will stop.

Silence Function (Nuisance Alarm):

In case of a false alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can temporarily silence the alarm.

  • Press the "TEST/X" button once.
  • The alarm will be silenced for approximately 10 minutes. The red LED indicator may continue to flash.
  • Ensure the source of the nuisance alarm is cleared. The detector will automatically reset after the silence period.

Sleep Easy™ Function (Low Battery Warning):

If a low battery warning sounds during the night, the Sleep Easy™ function allows you to temporarily silence the low battery chirp for 8 hours.

  • Press the "TEST/X" button once when the low battery chirp occurs.
  • The chirp will be silenced for 8 hours. The red LED will continue to flash to indicate a low battery.
  • The detector remains active and will still detect smoke during this period.
  • Important: The Sleep Easy™ function is a temporary measure. The unit must be replaced within 30 days of the first low battery warning, as the sealed battery is nearing the end of its 10-year life.

Maintenance

Battery Life:

The Fireangel AE6620-FRR is equipped with a sealed lithium battery designed to last for 10 years. This means no battery replacement is needed throughout the detector's operational life. When the battery reaches the end of its life, the unit will emit a low battery chirp.

  • End of Life: After 10 years from activation, or when the low battery warning begins, the entire smoke detector unit must be replaced.
  • Do Not Attempt to Replace Battery: The battery is sealed and not user-replaceable. Tampering with the unit may void the warranty and compromise safety.

Cleaning Your Detector:

Dust and debris can accumulate on the smoke detector, potentially affecting its performance.

  • Clean your smoke detector at least once a month.
  • Use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to gently remove dust from the vents and around the casing.
  • Do not use cleaning solvents or sprays on the detector.
