3. Product Overview

3.1 SD19-W Wireless Interconnected Smoke Detector

The SD19-W is a wireless interconnected smoke detector designed to provide early warning of fire. Its housing is constructed from flame-retardant and high-temperature resistant ABS material for enhanced safety and durability.

3.2 XC01-WR Wireless Interconnected Carbon Monoxide Alarm

The XC01-WR is a wireless interconnected carbon monoxide (CO) alarm. It features a high-quality Figaro electrochemical CO sensor, known for its stable performance and a 10-year lifespan. The alarm is powered by a replaceable battery that lasts for 5 years.

3.3 RC01 Remote Controller

The RC01 remote controller provides a convenient way to interact with your interconnected alarms. 4. Setup and Installation

4.1 General Placement Guidelines

For optimal protection, install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside each sleeping area, and in the hallway outside each sleeping area. Install carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home and in sleeping areas. Avoid installing alarms near windows, doors, or vents where drafts could interfere with sensor readings. Keep alarms away from areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures.

4.2 SD19-W Smoke Alarm Installation

1. Choose a suitable location on the ceiling or wall, away from corners and obstructions.
2. Mount the bracket using the provided screws.
3. Attach the smoke alarm to the mounting bracket by twisting it clockwise until it clicks into place.
4. Perform an initial test by pressing the 'TEST' button.

4.3 XC01-WR Carbon Monoxide Alarm Installation

1. Select a location that is at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) from the floor, but not on the ceiling unless specified by local codes.
2. Mount the bracket using the provided screws.
3. Attach the CO alarm to the mounting bracket by twisting it clockwise until it clicks into place.
4. Perform an initial test by pressing the 'TEST' button.

4.4 Wireless Interconnection Process

The X-Sense Link+ system allows up to 24 wireless alarms (smoke, CO, and combination alarms) to be interconnected via RF technology, creating a comprehensive safety network. Follow the instructions provided with each alarm to initiate the interconnection process. Typically, one alarm is set as the primary unit, and others are paired to it. Once interconnected, if one alarm detects a hazard, all linked alarms will sound.

4.5 RC01 Remote Controller Pairing

To pair the RC01 remote controller with your interconnected alarms, follow the specific pairing instructions included with the remote. This usually involves activating a pairing mode on the alarms and then on the remote controller within a short timeframe. Once paired, the remote can control all linked alarms.

5. Operation

5.1 Testing the Alarms

It is recommended to test your alarms weekly to ensure proper operation. Press and hold the 'TEST' button on any alarm or use the RC01 remote controller. All interconnected alarms should sound a loud alarm and flash their LED indicators. Release the button to stop the test.

5.2 Silencing Alarms

In case of a false alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can silence the alarms by pressing the 'TEST/SILENCE' button on any alarm or by using the mute function on the RC01 remote controller. The alarm will temporarily silence for a set period, typically 9 minutes, before resetting. If the hazard persists, the alarm will reactivate.

5.3 LED Indicators and Audible Signals

Your X-Sense alarms use both LED indicators and audible signals to communicate their status:

• Green LED: Indicates normal operation and power.

• Yellow LED: Indicates a fault, low battery, or end-of-life warning.

5.4 Remote Controller Functions

The RC01 remote controller allows you to:

• Test: Initiate a test of all interconnected alarms.
• Mute: Silence false alarms across the interconnected system.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement (XC01-WR)

The XC01-WR carbon monoxide alarm uses a replaceable battery with a 5-year lifespan. When the battery is low, the alarm will chirp and the yellow LED will flash. Refer to the specific instructions provided with the XC01-WR for safe battery replacement.

6.2 Cleaning

Clean your alarms regularly, at least once a month, to prevent dust and debris from accumulating and affecting sensor performance. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use cleaning solvents or spray directly onto the alarm. Vacuum around the vents with a soft brush attachment.

6.3 Regular Testing

Continue to test your alarms weekly as described in Section 5.1 to ensure they are functioning correctly.
