4. Setup

Follow these steps for the initial setup of your coffee machine:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Wash the water tank and drip tray with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  3. Fill Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, potable water up to the MAX level (1.5L capacity). Alternatively, you can place a 0.5L mineral water bottle directly into the tank for hygienic water supply. Reinsert the tank securely.

  5. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  6. First Use / Priming: Place a cup under the coffee dispenser. Turn on the machine using the power button. The indicator light will illuminate, indicating the machine is heating up. Once the light indicates it's ready (usually a steady light), lift the brewing lever, insert an empty pod (or no pod for initial flush), and press the brew button to run a full cycle of water through the system. Discard this water. This primes the system and cleans any manufacturing residues.

5. Operating Instructions

Brewing espresso with your Baby Frog machine is a simple process:

  1. Power On: Ensure the water tank is filled. Press the power button. The machine will begin to heat up, indicated by a flashing light. Wait for the light to become steady, indicating the machine is ready for brewing.
  2. Insert ESE Pod: Lift the brewing lever. Place one ESE 44mm coffee pod into the pod holder, ensuring it is centered and flat.
  3. Close Lever: Lower the brewing lever firmly until it locks into place. This secures the pod and prepares the machine for brewing.
  4. Place Cup: Position your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the coffee dispenser.
  5. Brew Coffee: Press the brew button. Hot water will be forced through the coffee pod, and espresso will begin to flow into your cup.
  6. Stop Brewing: The machine will automatically stop brewing after a preset amount of coffee is dispensed. You can also manually stop the flow by pressing the brew button again.
  7. Remove Pod: After brewing, lift the brewing lever to release the used pod. Dispose of the pod responsibly.
  8. Power Off / Standby: If you are finished brewing, press the power button to turn off the machine. The machine features a standby function to save energy.

6. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your machine and ensure consistent coffee quality.

  • Daily Cleaning: After each use, empty and rinse the drip tray and pod holder. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Water Tank Cleaning: Clean the water tank weekly with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly to remove any soap residue.
  • Descaling: Depending on water hardness, descaling should be performed every 2-3 months. Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for coffee machines. Follow the descaler manufacturer's instructions carefully. After descaling, run several cycles of fresh water through the machine to rinse thoroughly.
  • Coffee Dispenser Cleaning: Periodically clean the coffee dispenser outlet with a small brush to remove any coffee residue.
