Setup

Follow these steps for the initial setup of your espresso machine:

  2. Placement: Position the machine on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the machine for ventilation and operation.
  3. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the detachable water tank, portafilter, and all filter baskets with warm, soapy water. Rinse them thoroughly with clean water and dry.
  4. Fill Water Tank: Remove the water tank, fill it with fresh, cold drinking water up to the 'MAX' indicator line, and securely place it back into the machine.
  5. First Use Cycle (Priming):
    • Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet.
    • Place an empty cup or container under the portafilter.
    • Press the power button. The indicator lights will flash as the machine heats up.
    • Once the lights are solid, press the single shot button to run hot water through the system without coffee. Repeat this process 2-3 times to prime the pump and clean internal components.
    • Briefly activate the steam wand for a few seconds to clear any air from the steam system.

Operating Instructions

Making Espresso (Ground Coffee):

  1. Ensure the machine is preheated and the indicator lights are solid.
  2. Select the appropriate filter basket (single or double shot) and place it securely into the portafilter.
  3. Add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. For a single shot, use approximately 7-8g; for a double shot, use 14-16g.
  4. Lightly tamp the coffee grounds with the provided tamper to create an even, compact puck. Avoid over-tamping.
  5. Attach the portafilter to the group head by aligning it and twisting firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
  6. Place your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
  7. Press the single shot or double shot button. The machine will automatically dispense the programmed amount of espresso and stop.

  5. Once the desired foam texture and milk temperature are reached, turn off the steam control knob and press the steam button to deactivate the steam function.
  6. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying and clogging.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your espresso machine and ensure consistent coffee quality.

Daily Cleaning:

  • Portafilter & Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse thoroughly under hot water.
  • Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray regularly to prevent overflow and maintain hygiene.
  • Water Tank: Rinse the water tank daily and refill with fresh water.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Steam Wand: Always wipe the steam wand immediately after frothing milk. If clogged, use a small pin to clear the steam nozzle.

Descaling:

Descaling is crucial to remove mineral buildup (limescale) that can affect machine performance and coffee taste. The frequency of descaling depends on your water hardness and usage. It is recommended to descale every 2-3 months or as needed.

  1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions. Use a descaler specifically designed for coffee machines.
  2. Fill the water tank with the prepared descaling solution.
  3. Place a large container under the portafilter and another under the steam wand.
  4. Run several cycles of hot water through the portafilter (using the single or double shot button) and through the steam wand until the water tank is empty.
  5. Rinse the water tank thoroughly and refill it with fresh, clean water.
  6. Run several cycles of fresh water through the machine (both portafilter and steam wand) to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.

Troubleshooting

Refer to the table below for common issues and their solutions.

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No coffee dispenses. No water in tank; machine not primed; clogged filter basket. Fill water tank; perform first use cycle; clean filter basket thoroughly.
Coffee is too weak or watery. Coffee grounds too coarse; not enough coffee; insufficient tamping. Use a finer grind; increase coffee amount; tamp more firmly.
Coffee flow is too slow or drips. Coffee grounds too fine; too much coffee; over-tamping; machine needs descaling. Use a coarser grind; reduce coffee amount; tamp less firmly; descale the machine.
Steam wand not producing steam. Steam button not activated; wand clogged; machine not hot enough. Press steam button and wait for indicator light to become solid; clean steam wand hole; allow machine to fully heat.
Machine leaks. Portafilter not properly secured; drip tray full; water tank not seated correctly; seal issue. Ensure portafilter is tight; empty drip tray; re-seat water tank; contact support if issue persists.
