AMIGO Games Look! My First Card Game Instruction Manual

Model: AMI22110

Introduction

The AMIGO Games Look! card game is designed for young players aged 4 and up, offering a fun and engaging way to sharpen observational skills. Players race to spot differences in cards, making it a fast-paced and exciting challenge for 2-6 participants. This game encourages attention to detail and quick thinking in a playful environment.

The objective is simple: be the first to notice a change in a sequence of cards and claim it. This game is ideal for family game nights, playdates, or any gathering looking for an interactive and educational activity.

Components

Before you begin, ensure all components are present in the box:

  • 32 Game Cards
  • 1 Rulebook (this manual)

Setup

  1. Prepare the Play Area: Find a flat surface large enough to lay out the cards.
  2. Shuffle the Cards: Thoroughly shuffle all 32 game cards.
  3. Deal the Cards: Deal out a certain number of cards face-up in a line or circle, depending on the number of players and desired game length. For a standard game, a line of 5-7 cards is a good starting point. Place the remaining cards in a face-down draw pile.
  4. Establish the "Change": The game revolves around one card being subtly changed. Ensure players understand they are looking for a single alteration.

Operating (How to Play)

The game is played in rounds. The goal is to be the first player to correctly identify the change between two sets of cards.

  1. Starting a Round: All players look at the face-up cards on the table for a few seconds to memorize them.
  2. Players Close Eyes: One designated player (or the player whose turn it is) instructs all other players to close their eyes.
  3. Make a Change: While eyes are closed, the designated player performs one of the following actions:
    • Swap the position of two cards.
    • Flip one card over (if cards have different images on each side, or if one side is blank).
    • Replace one card from the line with a new card from the draw pile.
    • Remove one card from the line.
  4. Spot the Difference: The designated player then says "Look!" and all other players open their eyes. The first player to correctly identify the change (e.g., "The rooster card moved!" or "The mushroom card is new!") wins the round.
  5. Winning a Card: The player who correctly spots the difference keeps the changed card (or a card from the draw pile as a reward) as a point.
  6. Next Round: The game continues with the next player becoming the designated player to make a change.

Game End and Scoring:

The game ends when the draw pile is exhausted, or after a predetermined number of rounds. The player with the most cards collected wins the game.

Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity of your AMIGO Games Look! card game:

  • Storage: Always store cards in their original box or a suitable card storage container to prevent damage and loss.
  • Cleaning: If cards become dirty, gently wipe them with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using water or chemical cleaners, as these can damage the card material and print.
  • Handling: Encourage players to handle cards carefully to prevent bending, tearing, or creasing.
  • Environment: Keep cards away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and moisture to prevent warping or fading.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Difficulty Spotting Differences:
    • Solution: For younger players or those new to the game, start with fewer cards in the line. Gradually increase the number as their observational skills improve. Ensure the "change" made is distinct and not too subtle.
  • Arguments Over Who Spotted It First:
    • Solution: Establish a clear rule before starting, such as "the first person to touch the changed card" or "the first person to clearly state the change." The designated player making the change can act as the impartial judge.
  • Cards Getting Damaged:
    • Solution: Remind players about careful handling. Consider laminating cards for extra durability if they are frequently used by very young children.
