3.2. Backup Camera Installation
The AHD backup camera provides a 170-degree wide-angle view with night vision and IP67 waterproof rating. Follow these steps for installation:
- Mounting the Camera: Select a suitable location for the camera, typically near the license plate. Secure the camera in place.
- Routing the Cable: Thread the camera's power cable into the vehicle interior, often through the license plate light housing or another existing gap.
- Connecting to Tail Light: Locate the power wire for the reverse signal light. Connect the red wire from the camera's power cable to the positive pole of the reverse light. Insulate the black wire. If the provided wire is not long enough, use a spare copper wire as an extension.
- Connecting to Head Unit: Route the camera extension cable along the door frame and through the glove compartment to the car radio area. Connect the yellow plug of the camera extension cable to the "Backup camera video input cable" on the head unit's power harness. Connect the blue wire on the other end of the camera extension cable to the "Rear CAM Control" wire in the power harness.
