Operating Modes
Your Timex Ironman watch features several operating modes to enhance your daily tracking and workout experience.
Workout Mode
The Workout Mode provides a dedicated counter for various metrics during your exercise sessions, separate from your daily totals. This allows for focused tracking of individual workouts.
- Entering Workout Mode: From the main timekeeping mode, press the MODE button (bottom left). The first mode displayed should be "WORKOUT".
- Workout Views: While in Workout Mode (and not actively tracking a workout), you can cycle through different data views by pressing the LAP/RESET button (bottom right). Available views include:
- Time View: Displays the workout timer (top) and current time (bottom).
- Distance View: Shows the distance traveled during the workout.
- Speed View: Displays your current speed (e.g., miles per hour).
- Pace View: Shows your current pace.
- Step View: Displays the number of steps taken during the workout.
- Calories View: Shows calories burned during the workout.
It is recommended to select your desired view before starting a workout, though you can change it during the workout.
- Setting Heart Rate Zones and Target Steps: While in Workout Mode (and not actively tracking a workout), press and hold the SET/INDIGLO button (top left) to enter workout settings.
- Heart Rate Levels: The watch has pre-defined heart rate zones (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3) based on your personal profile (age, weight, height). You can adjust the high and low BPM (beats per minute) for each level using the START/STOP and LAP/RESET buttons. Press MODE to move between high/low settings and between levels.
- In-Zone Alarm: You can enable or disable an alarm that alerts you when you enter or exit a set heart rate zone. Use the START/STOP button to toggle it on/off.
- Target Steps: Set a target number of steps for your workout. The watch can alert you when this target is reached. Adjust the value using the START/STOP and LAP/RESET buttons.
After adjusting settings, press and hold the SET/INDIGLO button to exit settings.
- Starting a Workout: Once your settings are configured, press the START/STOP button (top right) to begin tracking your workout. The timer will start, and other metrics will begin to update as you move.
- Stopping a Workout: To pause or stop your workout, press the START/STOP button. The timer will pause. You can press it again to resume.
- Resetting a Workout: After stopping a workout, to clear the data and prepare for a new session, press and hold the LAP/RESET button (bottom right). This will reset all workout metrics to zero.
Note: This watch does not save historical workout data. Once a workout is reset, the specific metrics for that session are cleared.

- Do not press any buttons while the watch is submerged in water.
