5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
The tool is activated by pressing the trigger switch. The speed is variable depending on how far the trigger is pressed. Release the trigger to turn the tool off.
5.2 Speed Selection (3-Speeds)
The drill features a 3-speed gearbox for optimal performance across various applications:
- Speed 1 (Low): For high torque applications, large diameter drilling, and screwdriving.
- Speed 2 (Medium): For general drilling and screwdriving.
- Speed 3 (High): For fast drilling, especially in metal, with a maximum rotational speed of 4000 RPM.
To change speed, use the gear selector switch located on top of the drill. Ensure the tool is stopped before changing speeds to prevent gear damage.
5.3 Torque Setting
The torque collar allows you to adjust the clutch setting for screwdriving applications. Rotate the collar to select the desired torque. Higher numbers indicate higher torque. For drilling, set the collar to the drill symbol for maximum power.
5.4 Electronic Safety Shutdown
This feature protects the motor and gearbox from overload. If the tool experiences excessive resistance and stops, release the trigger immediately. Allow the tool to cool for a few moments before resuming operation. Reduce the load or adjust settings if the shutdown occurs frequently.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Metabo drill.
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the tool with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Keep ventilation openings clear of dust and debris.
- Chuck Care: Periodically inspect the chuck jaws for wear or damage. Clean any accumulated dust or debris from inside the chuck.
- Storage: Store the drill in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children. Use the provided metaBOX 145 L for protection during storage and transport.
